Lifted with new shoes!!! (PICS)

Finally, I did it!!!

My OME lift finally came yesterday, and I started on it with a friend/tool supplier at 7am....after breaking two coil compressors, many (bad) words, and a lot of skinned knuckles...IT's ON!! I also picked up some BFG's in 285/75/16..I have some rubbing I need to take care of. Maybe later I'll add a 1"BL.

The hardest part was probably compressing the coils.

I did the diff drop myself in about 15 minutes, as we had air tools.

CV's BEFORE the diff drop:

They are nearly normal after the diff drop. NOTE: I am running 882's.

The ride feels much much more secure, and stable. The stiffness ALMOST reminds me of a sport sedan

My tires seem to be rubbing on the plastic fender liner where the bolts for the running boards used to be. I NEED to stop the rubbing!

Also we re-used the conical rear bumpstops but cut most of the cone part away. It was essentially used as a cheap spacer, and I'm glad I did it.

The novelty of the black rims are beginning to rub off I think..I dunno.

Looks terrific. How well do the lights you mounted on the front work?

Thanks for the props everybody!

Ironically, the lights up front suck. They came with the truck (Pilot). The first time I went into water, they blew out. So I just unplugged them until I get some Hella's.

I think black rims will always add to the looks of a black truck. (and many other colors too, just ... this looks really good, no matter how many people have black rims)

your CVs are AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy ˟˟˟˟e!

forget about a diff drop, you need to get rid of those 882s!

i dont get why people are getting 882s, they are a full 1" longer than 881s and ARB does not recommend these for 4Runners unless they have a bumper AND winch. with a bumper/winch, the 882s provide about 2.5" of lift.

That pic is BEFORE the DIFF DROP. They are now nearly stock. Not bad at all. I'm very happy with the 882's. Well maybe not nearly stock, but I don't think they are severe by any means. I'll take some pics and re-post.

Noticed you said you had air tools, Did you use a impact on the spring compressors?

We used an air ratchet for the speed, and when it gave up we used an impact wrench. I dont think I could have done it without. We also broke 2 spring compressors! The screws kept stripping. If you're looking to do this, make sure you give each side a short, equal tightening or you'll have a spring thats bending over and compressors that are falling off.

Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever use air tools on spring compressors and use WAY more oil on the threads than you think is good. I usually give the threads a shot of WD40 over 2 or 3 turns.

We used TONS OF grease.. they came with a few packets, and I bought a few extra.... I dont see how It would work without air tools. I mean, the impact wrench even went pretty slowly.

Actually, I've heard of people doing it with air tools, and of others doing it without. I can tell you from personal experience, however, that doing it by hand without air tools or an impact wrench did go slowly, and did make my arms very sore ...

If you use air tools or an impact wrench, it is okay as long as you only tighten a tiny bit on one side, and then a little on the other, and so forth, doing it evenly.

In reagrds to the 882's...Did you get your front end aligned yet. If not, the angles will get worse when you do. Jusy an FYI.

Spring compressors are a work out no doubt, but if the screws keep stripping out loose the impact and grab the breaker bar.

Thats good to know. Actually, I asked for it to be aligned but the shop suggested I didn't do it. Apparently I'm so close to spec, It wouldn't make much of a difference.

If I were indeed out of spec, would it make a SIGNIFICANT difference in the angles?
