I've been looking around, and all I can find is sketchy info on OME components to lift my truck. I don't want anything excessive...just enough to clear 285/75/16s and add a bit of ground clearance. Anyone have (or know where I can find) any good info?

I'm running 265/75/16s on my 96. I lifted it with OME HDs in the rear and OME MDs with Cornfed spacers in front. Take a look:


With this combination, 285s shouldn't be a problem at all.
I achieved an overall lift of about 2".

you got way more than 2" out of that. OME HDs give at least 3" what size spacer you have for front?

I used a 1" spacer.
I think you're right, I think I gained about 2.5"

SAW and OME are a great combo. Revtek works, but not the best. youll need at least 2", 2.5" is better. either way, prepare for trimming and some grinding, more if you have the limited flares, less if you dont. you can check my page for some info too.

btw, OME isnt sketchy and no lift will be excessive if you do it right.

I used the Revtek kit just because I was in the same boat. Just looking to clear larger tires, and a bit of clearance. I went from 9.5 inches of overall clearance to 15 inches! :eek: I'd say it worked just as expected, with no noises or other problems. I did have to do some minor trimming on my front lower flares and on the body pleat (sp?), but other than that, its perfect.

i have wanted a lift kit for awhile now, but the thing that stops me is thinking about the parking garages at the mall/school with the low ceilings...can anyone tell me if they have any problems...if there isnt, you will be seeing some new pics of my truck with some height..

Mine still easily goes inside my garage at my house. I can't see any problems in the future either. I know it fits at the airport and all the fast food places

No. 2.5" isn't going to stop you from anything even if you add bigger shoes. Many vehicles are much taller than a lifted Runner.

Now, go out and lift it!

I guess I should add that I do plan on the saw/ome combo very soon...I just didn't think I'd be so ready to offroad once it was lifted! Oh, and I found my Revtek for $295 new.

Since I am the self-appointed ground clearance guru/dork ( ), the only thing that should have measured 9.5" is the rear diff. That height would stay the same with any lift other than bigger tires, which you did add, but you should have only gained ~1.5" there from stock.

As for the 15" measurement, you're going to have to clarify where that was taken from. I wouldn't say that is an overall clearance though as that number should be an exception from underneath somewhere (maybe somewhere in front of the gas tank?).

Just nit-picking though.

Sorry, meased at the center of the front skid plate. I am curious however, how is it possible at all that '99s and '00+ are any different whatsoever, assuming the same tires/wheels??? I see poeple claiming 11 inches??? There is no way the diff is that much different, is there?

OK, well I have read that before, but didn't even take into account that you were going off rear diff height. However, I do see my measurements are right on par with yours for front diff. So, my before/after lift measurements are right where they should be. Maybe later I'll go out and see just where my rear diff is now...


This does raise the question though..if you only go from rear diff...no 4runners ever had 11 inches of clearance!? :eek:

Correct. Some manufacturers actually measure from the lowest point that they publish. Toyota has chosen not to and found that the 11" figure sounds a heck of a lot better. Nevertheless, pre-4th gen 4Runners are still higher than most, and higher than any others in their class.
