Leveling out my 4Runner

Hey guys, I need some input here as to what to do.

Right now my OME setup is giving the rear 8" inbetween the tread and the fender, while the front is only at 6".

So I need to bring the front up 2" to level it out.

I have a few options, however I cannot figure out which one would be best.
I do not plan on getting a winch or bumper by the way.

1) 1.5" Daystar front spacers
2) 2.5" Daystar front spacers
3) 2" Cornfed front spacers
4) OME Trim packers (I'll need like 20mm worth of them...I think?)
5) Carrying around 3 fat guys in the back at all times

What would be the best here? What size spacer should I get. I hear a lot that if you buy a 2" spacer, you wont actually get 2", or you might get more, so I am confused on what to buy to give me a level ride!!

I haven't looked at the 3rd gens too closely, but are you sure the fenders are supposed to be at the same height? For example, the 2nd gen front fender is higher than the rear fender which can give the illusion of a saggy butt (as long as the real saggy butt has been fixed previously). Your best bet is to measure from the bottom of the body or some other horizontal line in the body.

Yea with my 1st gen the front is cut higher than the rear, but the rear does sag because they had the same springs as the pickup, but it has a 200 lb cap on it.

But my buddy in town has add a leafs in the rear and has the cornfed in the front and loves it, dunno about his measurements though.

IM running a Revtek all around. But Im in the opposite situation. My back sags lower than my front. Im using the Downey 3.5 inch spring to corret this. But Id say go with the Cornfed spacers, everyone seems to recomend them. But check out Shafers web site, he has great suspension ideas

2" difference? doesnt sound right.

which coils did you use?

most guys run a 1" spacer with the 881 coils to get to a total of 2.5" lift.

with the OME coils, the rear will always be higher, the coils give anywhere from 2.75-3.25" lift depending on the coil and the weight in the rear of hte 4Runner (spare tire, trailer hitch, etc)

I'd wait awhile to give the coils time to settle. If you go ahead and space the front up to match the rear, you may find that the rear is lower than the front in 6 months. I recently added a really nice set of Protech 1" aluminum spacers to my rear springs which gives the truck a slightly higher stance in the rear. I like it and the rear now has a bit more travel before the inner isolator cone nudges the lower coil seat. I will try to experiment with a Revtek 1/4" top out spacer for the front, but otherwise I like how it sits. It would bug me when the truck had a full tank of gas and then sat ever so slightly lower in the rear. No it can carry some weight before looking low in the rear.
FYI, I recently swapped out the stock coils all around for a fresh set of longer '99 coils.
So, give it some time before adding items to the front. Also remember that if you place a 1" thick spacer in the front strut assembly, you'll end up with closer to 2" of lift. This is due to the location of the lower strut mounting point on the A-arm.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I know the back is higher, I can tell just by looking at it....and even if the rear DID sag, it would still be higher.

The daystar 1" spacers are only $60... If I add that, I will get around 2" of lift in the front, correct? Even if I did get 1" or 1.5", Id sitll be happier. I just dont like the look of my runner loooking like a dragster.

If it somehow lifted it up 2", and the back sagged in 6 months to be lower, I could just add another 1" in the back anyways.

Right now I am set on getting a front spacer, I just want to know what size I should get!?!??

I don't get it! Why did everybody FREAK when I ran 882's?!?!? 881's with a 1" spacer is actually a little bit MORE than 882's alone!!!

881s with a 1" lift spacer is not longer than 882s.

881 is 375mm = 14.764" + 0.5" spacer = 15.264"

882 is 395mm = 15.551in

I thought I read that and 882 is a little more than an inch longer.. Whoops. My bad.

EDIT:
Wait, Im confused... a .5" spacer yields 1" of lift, no?

Your measurements/math show that the actual assembly is shorter (than 882's). But wouldn't the lift created by the 881's/spacer be greater? I also thought SC4Runner was pondering a spacer that measured 1" and possibly provided 2" of lift. Maybe a better question from me would be what each coil alone (881/882) provide in lift. I know it varies a bit tho..

It just seems to me that if I had an 881 coil and lifted it 2 more inches, I'd have something too big.

Maybe I'm just cluelessly rambilng, I just don't get it!


Glad I'm ordering SAW's and I'm not dealing with spacer madness!!
