After a brake job on my 3rd gen I bled the four corners and everything seemed fine.

But upon further inspection a week later I noticed my passenger front caliper bleed screw was a bit moist so I assumed the bleeder was not tight enough. I retightened and re-bled, but kept noticing that the bleed screw always has fluid escaping the threads, even while bleeding. Keep in mind that they were never opened more than a 1/4 a turn and I only let a slow stream out when bleeding.

I purchased and installed a pair of rebuilt calipers and I still notice the "wetness" around the bleeder.

What's going on?

After you tighten them up, wash them off with water really good to make sure there isn't residual fluid around the bleeders

Consider trying new Toyota bleed screws first. I usually pay around $4 each. Check the 'seat' area of the bleeder for debris and/or rust.

Don't overtighten them or they snap.

get some speed bleeders. They're like $10pr but worth everypenny ... I replaced all my bleed screws w/ em. I did get one faulty pair tho.. one of the bleed screws wasnt drilled all the way through to the checkball so it was just a screw (1/2hr of frustation later I realized my bleed screw was just a screw). =p

Instead of washing them with water, use a can of brake cleaner.

I've been using brake cleaner to make sure it's not residual fluid. It comes back every night.

I purchased a pair of new bleeders, cleaned the threads and seat of the calipers and installed the new bleeders. Same problem.

What makes speed bleeders seal better than a regular one?

Anyways, I purchased a pair of remans from NAPA and they were even worse. The passenger side caliper was actually leaking from the bolts that hold the caliper together. Needless to say, I'll be returing them.

But in the meantime I flushed the system again and have been running the stock calipers with new bleeders. Passenger side still get's moist but braking performance hasn't decreased any as far as I can tell.

Should i be saving for a some new Toyota calipers or are there other trustworthy reman brands out there? Tundra brakes are out of the question since I've already spent the money on new pads and rotors for the stock Runner brakes.
