Leaf spring swap...

I have a 92 XtraCab 4x4 with original sagging springs...recently I acquired a pair of rear springs from an 05 Tacoma AccessCab TRD Offroad 4x4. At first glance it looks like pretty much a bolt-in (seemingly similar dimensions except for, of course, no sag). I will try to hang 'em up when I get some time in the next few weeks. One noticeable difference between the two trucks is that up to 04, every single leaf spring on a Toyota truck hangs directly below the frame rails hence sitting "underneath" the shackle...in 05 the leaf springs are positioned outside the frame rails, "resting on" inverted shackles. This isn't a problem if in fact the dimensions are the same as either spring can be used in either shackle position, theoretically. If they work in my truck I'm laughin', if not it's no big deal because they were free and I can probably sell them. Does anyone know enough about these two leaf setups to know if it is possible to make the 05 Taco spring safely work in my 92 "pre-Taco"?

Has anyone ever thought about trying this or am I a pioneer, willing to write a how-to after I make it work?

I too would like to get my 1990 pickup back to the perky state, and not look like its dragging its butt around town. I was thinking airbags, and maybe cut my overload leaf behind the rear axle, so I would be running more on the airbags which may be smoother and have load capacity when needed. Or I guess the other option would be to keep my main leaf and add some other leafs (taco? chevy?) to restore/rebuild my springs. Let me know what you decide to do. Anyone else have some info for a cheap or simple solution?
