I often find that just driving up and back to work sometimes ill accidently let the clutch off too soon and bounce the stick off the gears (if that makes any sense), or misshift.

I know it wouldnt gain any faster acceleration, because when i get my truck around 4500-5000 RPM and go to shift, i have to wait for the RPM's to level out anyways before dropping the clutch, or ill burn it up.

Let me know what you think of these, and any experiences youve had with this or something similar

Havent had any experience with a short throw except on my buddies old Twin Turbo eclipse, fun a$$ car...

But I do know what you mean by letting the clutch off too early..
I do it maybe once a month..
And on my dads 99 5speed, I killed the shifter bushings by doing something of the like, so be careful.

If you do end up getting that kit...Make sure to do a review buddy

URDusa.com sells one that's similar. I recall a member installing it in his 2nd gen 4runner and it worked great. Try a search.

Before you throw money at either one, buy the $10 shifter seat and $6 shifter socket from MC. Many have reported a significant improvement.

I have the URD SS and love it, it cut the sift distance by about 30%. It just make the rig more fun to drive, i dont "misshift" any more. The distance between N-1st with out the SS is the distance from 1st to 2nd with the urd kit.

my work buddy had the LCE short throw shifter on a Tacoma-he liked it.

I don't quite see the need-but to each his own. He said it was easy to install and inexpensive.

I had a B & M short shifter in a GSR Integra, it made speed shifting a lot easier, and made it much more difficult for my woman to drive it...

Used a Under Dog Racing one but i prefer the wider shift. Mine is for sale if you are interested.

hross14, could you expand a bit on why you did not like the short throw shifter kit. I've looked at these and would be interested to know what it was you did not like, after you spent the $$ and time to install it.

The LC kit is made by B&M. I like the shorter throw, makes for very crisp shifting, but you need a week or two for your hand/arm to adjust to it if you are used to the stock shifter. First few days of driving it will feel horrible, missing shifts, grabbing the wrong gear, etc. But once you get the feel of it, it is very nice. Also the B&M kit is has a very sweet stainless steel shifter and it has an adjustable base, so you can angle the shifter left, right and center.

I just thought the original shift pattern was smoother and suited my driving style better. Thats it.

I had the LCE on my 1993 toy truck...I enjoyed it being that i like to have really short throws on 5 speed rigs...came from the racing world prior so its what i was used to...

I have a URD (modified slightly) on my 89' with Marlin's bushings and it's nice and tight.
I had the same problems as roger the first week! lol... but i got used to it and it feels normal now...

does anyone make a short throw for 86 4runners? i drove a buddies 07 taco last night and loved the tight shift pattern and short throw.

I now have two options, one is the B&M based kit, cost is $60 plus the cost of the B&M kit, which you can source yourself for around $200. Or have a bolt-on kit for the early W56 (A and B models) transmissions for about $200 (forgot to take pictures of the first kit I did, but should have pictures and information up on the page below in the next few days):

Not sure on the clutch pedal, depends on what is loose. Not uncommon for the bracket it attaches to to crack and that can cause a loose pedal and/or an annoying squeak.

Is that shifter on your 1985? I have a 2WD 1985 pickup that I would like to put a short throw shifter on. But I really don't want to spend $200 on it if at all possible. I may have to cheap out and just get updated bushings.
