Larger Gas Tank
Does anyone have a larger than OE gas tank on their 3rd Gen 4runner? Anyone know where I might be able to get one?
I'm just looking to go further between fill ups.

Fuel cell, Then link the systems. Thats the best way, Unless you wanna buy a whole new tank outta a different vehicle, Then deal with fabbing up mounts and such.

I am building a custom tank as we speak. Plans are for it to be ~35" wide, 24" long, 6" at the rear and 9" at the front. It is going where the spare used to be. ~25 gallons
BTW--this is my second attempt at tank building--this first one blew up my other truck.....BBBAAWWWWW Just kidding

My stock tank is so small that the old spare tire spot seems perfect for a bigger tank. I used to hate having friends carry my gas in their bed. Just armor it up, huh.

The tank will be 1/8" alum but will have an external skid made from alum and UHMW.
It will tie into the bottom of my modified bumper/tow hitch and alleviate departure angle skidding. Also the separation from the tank means less inertia carries to the tank to "F" it up.
Its gonna be sick--but it seems like i have been building forever or waiting for parts all the time......saga continues

ford f 150 19 gallon or e 150 22 gallon fit where your spare goes PERFECTLY! the 19 gallon only hangs down 4 inches past the frame rails and the 22 will hang about 8 inches past the frame rails. ford pump will be fine and can be wired to work with the gauge. and on 3rd gens either tank has a driver side fill so you probly can use your old filler tube!
ill be mounting mine here in a couple weeks when i have some more free time !

relocate your spare tire and also source a LC95 fuel tank then it would be a bolt on fit, complete with protector plate, clamps, bolts, etc. it's a 90-liter tank and will directly bolt on to the space for your spare tire. you'll just need to get the dual tank electricals and gauge/switch and you're a go..

yes, it's the LC95 prado.. it has the same platform with the N185 4Runner (3rd gen). some versions have the dual tank option.. std tank is 90L at the back (spare wheel location) and the optional 70L tank (same as the N185 4Runner).
