Knocking Sound

Guys, im trying to troubleshoot this issue before i go to the shop tomorrow afternoon. Tonight on my way home my truck starting making a knocking sound. It varies with engine speed not RPM and doesnt begin to get loud enough to hear until around 35 or so. It only knocks when you are on the gas, but immediately after you let off it stops and starts again upon pressing down the gas pedal again. Let me know what you think or if you need more info. It sounds as though its coming for the tranny or there abouts.

That was one though at my truck has 114K on it and they have never been replaced to my knowlege... Would that be variable on whether or not i press the gas down or not? Does the torque change it enough?

I would agree with Elton. Do all the work you can while it's open. Maybe cryo'd gears as well... stronger. You can rebuild it... you have the technology... You have the capability to build a locked and regeared diff. The rear will be that differential. Better than it was before... Better, Stronger, Faster... SIX MILLION DOLLAR DIFF!

Well it turns out they are replacing it under some sort of warranty claim since they replaced it twice under warranty a while ago... I dont know some crap a buddy who works there helped me swindle into. So i will be getting a nice new stock rear third member, and taking the old one and rebuilding it for bullet-proof, or at least as close as possibly.

Dont think regearing the 4.10 is a good idea with the manual, she runs like a champ as it i think that anything different my hurt performance for me, but i could be wrong. What are the best gears to get and where can i get them? I am planning to use the Timken bearing installation kit as well as a detroit truetrac for an LSD unless someone can convince me otherwise... Bring on the info!
