Knock, knock from the power steering pump!
About 2,000 miles ago(1st Gen 4Runner) I started to hear what sounded like a bearing noise from something in the engine compartment but not an internal engine noise so I said to myself I'll wait and see what happens. Well my power steering seemed to be getting tighter and the noise louder to a knock or thump so I pulled into get gas and popped the hood. I have power steering fluid coming out the top of the resevoir now and the noise is very noticeable now...but if you rev the engine I do get adequate power steering.
So is the pump shot? Is there a filter somewhere that might be clogged and preventing the pump from getting enough fluid and casuing pressure into the resevoir?

So I found lots of air bubbles in the oil today after I refilled it and had the truck running. There is an Air Control Valve with two vacuum lines attached to it and it's mounted on the pump...could this be a problem? Advance Auto and Autozone didn't have a listing for it though
