king shocks

After only 25000 miles of mostly street driving the kings are starting to bottom out.I put them on to off set the arb bumper and winch I hardly ever use.For 800 bucks I thought they would last longer than this.I don't live up north and rarely go off road.Just needed something stiffer to keep the front end from sagging.I had a set of fox adjustable shocks on the front before. They lasted about as long before they to bottomed out.Frustrated enough to put the original bumper and struts back on.Like I said 98% street driven. Not too happy.Has anyone else experienced problems with king shocks that quickly. Thanks for any help.

There adjustable king coil overs. They came with a 600 pound coil spring.Bought them from down south motor sports.I have owned Toyotas since I bought my first new one in 1983.Kept them stock for the most part.Just figured an 800 dollar set of name brand shocks would last longer than twenty five thousand miles. Not interested in buying anymore.Just a little frustrating.Probably going to remove the junk and put the factory bumper and bilsteins and coils back on.Just wanted a real bumper on the front but not worth the hasle.

i know camburg tells you to rebuild theres at 30k and that is why they are so pricy because you can rebuild them instead of buying another pair!

what size kings 2.0 2.5 3.0? Travel? Might need a stiffer spring set up, or even might need to add some nitrogen

Sounds like to me, you didn't take into account the added weight of the aftermarket bumper and winch, and went with a desert racing shock. I don't believe they are/were designed for the constant added weight. Least they lasted as long as they did, in my opinion.....

A desert racing shock huh? google "triple bypass coilover" while I put my palm on my face.

You need a 700lb coil. and possibly a nitrogen recharge.

Stay with the Kings, trust me.

I got about 30K miles out of my coilovers before new coil springs and recharge, but that is almost all off road miles. Did you buy your Kings used?

Uhm, I did, 1st thing that showed up on their website was a slide show of their "offroad racing shocks". Hmmmmm, wonder why I said anything 'bout a racing off road shock, if I DIDN'T look up their name 1st....

King stuff is awesome but using anything in the wrong application will cause premature failure.
