Just put amsoil in.... not to thrilled

Just dumped amsoil XLS-7500 10-30 in my 90 runner with 155k.... And now my engine is a little more noisier, can't really tell if its rods or valves. Sounds more up top... But I think I'm gonna take it out tommarow, and put dino oil back in.

Any thoughts or suggestions? No I didn't use the engine flush either.

Thanks

155,000 miles on the engine-with nothing but dino oil- why switch now to synthetic now?? i think at that mileage, you are better staying with dino oil.

The amsoil will clean all the sludge very well but that may also cause some of the noise too.
The sludge may have actually helped to take up some of the tolerance as the engine ages.
I doubt either will hurt the engine but amsoil may cause noise at that kind of mileage.

I would have used the flush..BIG TIME..it really helps..honest.

also, may I ask why you went with the 7500??
I would have used ASLQT the regular 5W30..why.. from what I understand it is the same stuff as you used but it is a 1 year/15K mile oil..so all you have to do is change your filter at 6 months..
this oil saves me money...I buy 8 quarts a year..6 for the fill up, and 2 just incase I am an idiot when I change the filter at 6 months and drop more then a quart of oil..

I never heard of anyone not doing a fluch before switching..I do not know if this is your problem or not..
also, stupid question..but are you sure you have everything tight? are you keeping your oil or dripping it out slow??

I do not know if this was any help..I do not know what to say..never heard anyone having any probles with Amsoil ( and no, I am not a dealer)

Suprisingly enough, as ironic as it may sound, it's not considered a bad move or shouldn't be, for that matter.

A lot of members have switched over to synthetics at much higher mileage than the above with little to no present problems.

I suppose it all falls under luck.

We sell amsoil where I work, so thats why I went with it...

Just got back... Thanks for replies. Any who when I rev my engine for a few and the oil pressure up a little and let off when it comes down to idle, its quiet then it starts to come back again.

And it looks like I have developed a slight leak too, but I've heard that may happen until it soaks into the seals good. Also when I shut the engine off, it appears to get just a tad louder when shutting down.

I'm gonna take it to work and see what my boss thinks (the one who really convinced me)

Also my oil pressure isn't the greatest, I don't know what it was to begine with my guage never worked and tonight I got it fixed, but even revving it up the most I can get it to is tad above the 1st mark, and when idling it goes a tad below the 1st mark.

Maybe I should go to a thicker oil?

I know in my other Toy, and car, and even my dad and bro. We've always used Delo 400 SAE 30, and I have never have any trouble, and I'm thinking about switching back to that. I don't know what was in it before, this is the 1st time I've changed it since I bought it. (bout 400 miles ago)
