Just had a Pioneer double DIN deck put in

the 4Runner. The sound is sweet not to mention the iPod hookup. Fits perfect- now I just have to switch all the dash lights to blue. Anyone have any success with switching over the lights? It's the Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Took about 30 minutes to put in with a friend that knew what he was doing.

I was thinking about getting that head deck, but until they make a green one, I will have to wait.

sounds like it has everything, except the ability to make you a sandwich while you drive! looks pretty nice for a double DIN, i like the blue but i'm surprised they didn't offer the ability to change the colors like they have on so many other stereos.

with the USB input, is that powered so you could just plug in an external hard drive and play music off of it? some day, i would love to have that feature where i would have access to a TB of music files, maybe even uncompressed or HD audio files without switching discs. that would rule!

also, your link has an extra http:// so you can find the specs and pics of the head unit here:

Yeah, I've looked at those and they're a very nice unit. It kind of has a McIntosh look.

I'm leaning toward the AVIC-F90BT, myself. Maybe next year.

As for blue lighting, look at www.superbrightleds.com for their WLED-x5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html

Yeah- You can plug up a flash drive so you don't have to carry your iPod around. The only bad thing is the manual is a novel and it's really BLUE. Not sure why you can't change colors? That was an option on many units for years. Not so much anymore. Never liked the green anyway so I will be changing to blue very soon.

My Kenwood has a USB on the front for my flash drive - best feature ever. Heck you could hook up an 80g hard drive to it.

Yeah the USB is nice. The cord comes off the back and I put it in the center console.

Those look perfect. I saw another guy that has a 97 that switched his dash to blue. The website tells me what number bulbs I need but doesn't say how many. I know the AC (limited) takes 4 bulbs but I not sure what size and how many? I have about 4 threads pulled up but now I just confused which isn't real hard for me to do.

Talk to me! Would it now be possible to access MP3 or FLAC files directly off a portable hard drive and play them through a car stereo head unit with a USB port?

I am currently accessing about 300gb of FLAC files through a USB DAC that plugs into my PC via a USB porta, and into my vintage audio system via the ol standard RCA patch cords. The sound is flawless, CD quality since FLACs are lossless, as opposed to MP3.

I'd LOVE to have this same capability in my 4runner! I'm guessing that if this is not possible now, it won't be long until it is...

Looks good, hit up www.v-leds.com and replace the rest of your stock pale green lighting to match your blue deck.

I don't know about FLAC but you can access MP3. I've got a Kenwood deck - check out their site and see if any of them will handle FLAC.

Sign up for a free acct w/ photobucket.com and upload your pics there. Once your picture is uploaded, copy the "IMG" link below the picture and paste that entire link to this thread. Easy as 1-2-3
