Just did shocks/struts - rear sag ?
My sister has a 98 4runner 4x2 3.4L with over 200k miles. Since its had a recent tbelt job, she's trying to keep it for a while still. In that vein I installed some new shocks/struts - ended up using Monroe Sensatrak rear shocks and the quick-strut in the front (new strut/coil assembly = easy installation w/o spring compressor). Installation wasn't too bad.
However, (here's the but!) now the front rides about an inch higher than the rear! Only one P/N for Monroe for all years (96-02), so it wasn't b/c the front springs are '99 tall ones. I think its new front coils vs old rear ones.
My question: If I replace the rears with some new MOOG ones ($35 at rockauto), will the ride height even out? I don't want to go with '99 rears if its going to raise it too much - we want the truck to sit level and she cares more about on road driving and keeping gas & maintenance costs low, so we'd rather not spend $140 on OEM rear '99 springs also.
Oh, and are rear springs an easy install?
thanks for your help

Theres a lot of good info in here on this topic just search shocks, springs, or struts. The cheapest fix for you is going to be a rear spring spacer if you dont want to buy rears again. OE springs that match your exact year (and rear end height) are $$$ from Toyota. Old Man Emu springs will give you a good stance but youll need shocks that can handle them. From what I've seen here youre going to be frustrated trying to lift the rear up with MOOG or pretty much any other aftermarket replacement for OE height. Toyota made a series of changes for the 4Runner rears from 96-02 that not all the aftermarket companies emulated properly..... Stock rear springs are easy to replace until you get into 2in+ lift springs, then you might want a compressor.

I recently had a question on here about the Rockauto aftermarket springs. I've decided to just go OEM as i've also replaced my struts and shocks recently, plus they will last twice as long. I guess it's the "get what you pay for concept."
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the Old Man Emu springs can be used with OE shocks/struts as long as you are a pavement rider or light offroad type. Such as the 881/906 combo.
