JerryRig Tie Rod fix?
What kinda trail fix could I make on a broken tie rod so I could limp back into town? Or would I have to just replace it where it breaks on the trail? Thanks Bill

Not in my rig but a friend of mine broke the driver side tie rod, well he bent it and him and his friend decided to bend it back, well that didn't work it snaped it in two, so.I.seeped in and used my cheater bar( a live of stout piping) drilled two holes and sleeved the tie rod. It held the 3 milles back to the trail head, where I suggested he get towed home, I recently replaced mine and kept the old ones as sparse and left them in the 4runner.

Thanks, so are the left and right inner and outter tie rods interchangeable?
What spare tie rods go out first, the outers?
I need to be able to replace them, so I also need to do some research.
Thanks
Bill

I called the dealer, who said the outer are interchangeable, but the inner are not. Also, the outers will generally go out first. When the go out you would probably be able to feel it? Is it rare for them to just snap? I had a Nissan and the Oem tie rods where crappy. My Tacoma suspension seems very stout. Thanks. Bill
