JBL Nav System?
Does anyone know if the nav system in the '03 4Runner will fit in a Tacoma? I figure there is an antenna for the GPS that would have to be sorted out...
I sure wish Toyota would make the cool electronics at least available on the trucks.

If you think that navigation unit is cool ... check out this navigation unit from Fujitsu-Ten (Eclipse in the US).
Hard drive based navigation, 5.1 dolby builtin, 6.5in TFT screen, DVD/MP3/CD, and touchscreen. Droooool .....
Too bad it's only available in Japan

But... This free information is only what you need to compute latitude, longitude and elevation. It does not include any terrain images like are shown in the Fujitsu display above.
That display is showing two things, LANDSAT pictures and a 3D projection of the area. The LANDSAT pics are available for free on the web, but downloading them takes time and incorporating them into a GPS display takes software. That's the feature that you may have to end up paying for. It's the typical business model of "value added software" - the data to make the software work may be free, but the additional data to make the software look pretty is extra.

That is one sweet unit. I would like to install something similar, except that I don't want the usual motorized unit that comes out and covers most of the A/C controls. I would prefer an in-dash screen and just DVD/CD is fine, I can live with or without navigation. Anyone have any ideas?
