My 4Runner is completely stock. It's a 1994 4WD with about 105,xxx miles. I want to take it off roading. What are the chances that I'd break something doing some lightduty off roading? Just some mud fields, stuff like that?

The likelyhood of breaking a stock 4Runner is very small. You'll usually get stuck or to a point you cannot go further before it happens. Breakage really only happens on tougher terrain with built up rigs. Sounds kinda oxy-moronic doesn't it?

haha yes it sounds very oxy-moronic, but it's good for me, because I want to go get some mud on the tires (yes, that's right, I listen to country!) and my father (he bought the 4Runner for my brother, and my brother gave it to me and now I'm going to try and enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed) said I can't take it offroading because I might break something, and I had always heard 4Runners were built rock solid, so I had to ask. Thanks for the information!

If I buy a ticket, will I win the lottery?

Your question is impossible to answer here. It depends upon what you mean by "light duty off roading" and what kind of condition your rig is in.

If your rig doesn't have any pre-existing conditions and you keep your wheeling well within it's limits, it's unlikely your will break anything major. But 'stuff' happens, so the ultimate outcome will depend entirely on your and your rig.

This is very true. She hasn't been beaten on, from what I know, and she's in great condition. I'm definately bringing her in the mud. Light duty off roading to me is Illinois trails. Nothing big, nothing real rocky or steep. Just some mud, probably no deeper than a foot, and some small hills. Stuff like that.

All I've got are BFG M/T's and I romp the hell out of my 4Runner (also '94). I'm very happy with the way these rigs are built. So far I've sucked water into the intake (fried the O2 sensor) but that's about it. Just be ready to spend a couple hours getting it clean.
