ISR Mod - Mid-grade fuel without ping
After running nearly a year on premium fuel due to the pinging I experienced on regular with the ISR mod, I decided to split the difference and run midgrade. I should have tried this a long time ago. 
After 3 tanks of fuel, I am happy to report no pinging under all conditions. Lugging it, smoking ricers, hill-climbing, etc. All yielded no ping with 89 octane.
My mods are in my sig. If you are running a similar set-up and haven't tried the "run the lowest octane you can without pinging" method - please do. It just might save you a lot of money over the next year.
BTW: I reduced the size of the FPR vacuum line - back to the stock size. In doing so, I had to reduce the FPR barbed hose fitting slightly. This only applies to the 96 - 98 5VZ's. Just go to Home Depot and pick out the next smallest barbed fitting, while maintaining the same thread diameter.

Ooh, thanks for the update!
I'm not sure what pinging sounds like - whether or not it's a quiet or obvious sound so I removed the mod for now.
When someone else can verify whether or not I got pinging I'll put it back in as I am missing some of the additional oomph :cry:
