Intro - Proud new owner of an '01 4Runner
Introducing myself after a few weeks of lurking and researching on here. I bought my '01 1 week ago and have already completed the deckplate mod (definitely a more aggressive sound in open throttle mode) thanks to all the info here. I was considering Monterro Sports (not even near the quality of the 4Runner), Xterras and Pathfinders, but really felt the Toyota was the way to go for many, many reasons.
Mine is green, SR5, 2wd, I guess it's loaded minus leather.
Potential future mods/enhancements:
Anyone have pics of the green with matching flairs, but NO running boards? Opinions on this look?
Any thoughts on TSBs I MUST address?

Potential future mods/enhancements:
- Remove running boards
- Black pearl the badges, leave the small "TOYOTA" off
- Cat and muffler
- Clear tail lights and foglights
- Filter...dunno which, seems like there is plenty of controversy, probably Amsoil.
- May do the intake 'baffle' mod

welcome to yotatech!
your runner looks sweet. i really like the green. about your list.. definitely ditch the running boards, it'll look much better. As for the TSBs.. maybe someone with an 01 runner can chime in here, i'm only familiar with the tacoma TSBs.
happy wheelin!

Welcome. Leaving the running boards on does prevent lots of rock chips. Believe me. But, they do look good with them off. Here's some pics of a green one w/o running boards. Does have nerf bars though.
They look like they hang down a lot in the first picture but they don't.

That's his WAAG rear bumper guard (see his sig). I've been contemplating one of these for some added pretection in Metro D.C. traffic. Would rather have an ARB Sahara bumper, though, so will save my money for that.
