He tightened up the slop in the accelerator cable and at the initial touch of the pedal, he is getting the power of when you have it 1/4 to 1/3 mashed. Interesting.

Wonder if that would apply to any of the 3.0's mine seems to have just a small amount of play in it. Probably just normal wear and tear. May have to see if it's adjustable.. Probably a fantasy though....:rolleyes:

it is adjustable. i tightened mine about a year back b/c i was tired of the slack in the pedal. nothing to it really... just mess with it until you get the results you want. now about bending the pedal... i think i'll leave mine like it is.

I've actually been wonderin about mine recently, so I'm going to check and see what mine does. I at least don't see any harm in tightening the adjuster screw. I don't know about bending the pedal, though. Cable does stretch, just like the cables on a bicycle, so it wouldn't hurt to check and see if there is that much slack. I've got over 74K miles, so if his had that much at 8K miles, I'm scared to look at how much throttle I'm missing out on.

Well, I just adjusted mine at the adjuster screw, and I had about 1/8" of play. I haven't tested it on the road yet, but I figure it might make a little bit of a difference at full throttle. We'll see what happens. I would definitely check it, though. I just had to make sure it easily went back to the normal idle rpm, which it did. Have fun!

Well...I thought I would give this a try. On my Porsche, Performance Products makes a Throttle Response Cam that replaces the stock one and this mod has the same effect. I adjusted my linkage and bent the top of the pedal rod at the top. I didn't take the pedal off. I just grabed above the pedal with my right hand to secure the pedal and then with my left hand bent the rod toward me slowly.

All I can say is....wholly S**T. There was no slack and the throttle response was unbelievable. A 5 min. mod that put me further back in my seat.

Well, I've driven my truck to and from work today after adjusting the screw. It definitely takes less throttle to get me going down the road, but I'm not going to say it's that much more top end or anything although I do feel a tad bit more power at full throttle. I would recommend that everyone get all the slack out that they can. Heck, why not!

I wish I had this problem, my '03 has a sensitive throttle to say the least... The lightest touch and it revs quick, but the linkage is very smooth. Not sticky at all.
This truck also seems to make more power at lower RPM's than my '00, but sorta falls on its face on the top end next to the '00.
Guess maybe its still breaking in... (370mi)

I'm hoping the SC'r install will get rid of the pedle issue, but I'll definitely be checking out that cable after its on.
