Red face Interesting Failure.

The Victum 2000 3.4 5 speed 4x4 Tacoma.

This is a work truck so it is always loaded or towing something.

No Mil

It just seemed like it was getting a little lazy enough i was thinking about a fuel filter.

This morning the the throttle seemed to be sticking some a good bump on the pedal dropped the idle where it should be.

I thought maybe I was a little slacking in the lubing of the throttle linkage so I sprayed it with Kroil drove a few miles with no real change.

I figure if it is not on the throttle body side it must be on the other end of the throttle cable where the pedal linkage is .

I see what looks to be the throttle pedal bracket loose I try and tighten the bolts to find the upper welded nut is just torn out and hanging by a flap of metal.

The lack of performance was due to the pedal needing to travel more distance .

I have not heard of this before I guess just one of those freak things.

That is interesting. I know on some older cable driven throttle bodies the cable stretches to the point you lose about 1/4 of your throttle. This happened on my dads ford ranger. A new cable and bam, felt like a different truck.

Test run says it works.

I just need to get used to the slight difference in the pedal location

I just took a piece of 2"x4" x1/4" drilled and tapped for M6 x1.0 installed two studs from a 22Rec water pump .

Welded the studs on the back .

Bolted the pedal assembly onto my studs hooked up the throttle cable lined things up and tacked it in place.

Let it cool down placed silicon around the edges and let it set up over night.

Not so much heavy but big.

After all with my father being a Sasquatch I do have big feet.

Well after a day of driving it seems it works good .

So far so good with a few hundred miles now.

Really strange how that cracked like that.
