My 93 22RE (93 4x4 Pickup) is running hot. I don't have a collant leak and the coolant is mysteriously disappearing. There is no coolant in the oil, but I have noticed white smoke at start-up. I am fearing that it could be the head gasket, but a mechanic told me it could be the intake manifold. If fact, he stated that this was a common problem with the 22RE and that I should have it looked at right away. Is this true? This would be a lot better than a head gasket problem.
I also noticed that the coolant is rust colored. I had the radiator flushed, which helped a lot, but it is still rust colored. Would this come from the intake manifold?
Should I keep driving my truck? I keep a bottle of coolant with me and check the coolant everytime I get gas. It seems to use more coolant than gas!!
Any help would be great,
thanks,
Robert
