Wink Installing key less entry(valet712t) on 1992 4Runner

I am installing a key less entry system, I got from circuit city, It is a Valet 712t. I was wondering has anybody done any mods like this an what kind of hurdles am I going to run too? I am installing it on a 1992 4Runner, I have power windows and power locks. Also does any body have a wiring diagram that might be helpful for the installation?

so you can check out the specs on the keyless entry system:

why didnt you just have it installed at CC?

look for the wiring color chart/database at www.the12volt.com for your vehicle.

i personally dont think it will be as complicated as an alarm install (done that). but not having done a remote keyless entry install, thats just my best guess.

if its anything like an alarm install, most if not all of the wiring is going ot be down under the front driver's side panel (under and below the steering column). if you're not familiar with how to cut and solder wires, you better learn and practice asap because you will have to do that.

just make sure to read your manual a few times over, get the right wiring colors, and start matching and soldering up.

I bought all the soldering stuff I need, I have done it before. If all the wires are needed are in that spot then I don't think it will be that hard. I am working on it today as soon as the garage opens so I can go in there.

You won't like the flashing light feature.
I decided to disconnect that wire, because the parking light circuit includes all the dash lights. So they all flash, it looks weird.
Also, I turned off the horn honk feature because it was way to loud.
I left the wire connected for the panic feature to help locate the truck.
I thought about adding a chirping horn but decided silence was golden.

well My truck now has key less entry, I only have the lock, unlock, and the flashing lights. I did not connect the horn because, it is just to noise. It was easier than I tought, my truck used to have an alarm system before, so all I did is put this one in place of the previous one. I wouldn't mine having the chirping sound, were could I get this from, I think if I hook up my panic wire to the chirp sound it would be a way better then the horn. Sorry I don't know all the technical terms.

I am checking out the Valet 561t remote start system, it is an add-on. I am considering it because, in the winter it gets real cold. I was wondering what are the pros and cons of having remote start?
