Cool Installed a Marlin Crawler HD shifter seat...wow

After looking at Texas_Ace's mod contest thread, I decided I would give this mod a try and see how well it actually worked, as the write-up I used was for a '88 with 200K + miles on it. I installed the shifter seat on my 2002 TRD SR5 5spd taco which just rolled 120k.

The installation was pretty easy, except for the part where you have to loosen the locking sleeve on the shift lever. When it says push the lock sleeve down and turn the shift lever, I found it much easier to simply press down on the lock sleeve with two hands, and turn the lock sleeve.

My OEM shifter seat was in pretty good shape and the rubber ring was still in one piece. The Marlin parts went in with no problems, and fit perfectly in my application. Every thing went back together quite easily, and I eagerly headed out for a test drive.

At first I was convinced that I had a NEW TRANNY, as everything shifted soo smoothly. The tranny felt THAT good. Now understand that my tranny, pre mod was in great shape, and worked great, but wow. the difference was night and day.

I'll keep everyone posted on how this thing holds up long term, but If you'll excuse me, I just got out of class and it's been raining all day...

SO far it's been the best $25 i've spent on the truck.

Wondering if anyone can help me with selecting the right shifter seat and socket for my 00 4wd 3.4 5spd taco. Was looking at marlin's website and it's a little confusing:

The White seat is for most other 1981 and newer common Toyota transmission applications with a direct top-mounted shift level, such as L-, G-, W-, and R-series transmissions with a shift base bolted directly on top of the transmission (will not work with C-, E- or other variants that use cables).
And then it goes on to say

The Blue seat is for the forward shift style transfer case shift handle base of a transmission, such as a G52, G54, W56-C, W56-D, W56-E, R151F, and 1988-95 R150F applications with forward shifting transfer case shift bases.
So the white one is for the r-series trannies, but the blue one is for the r151f tranny (which is what I have if I'm not mistaken right?)... So which dog gone one do I need? Lol

And as far as the shifter socket goes, I just need the NON L43 shifter right?

Shifter seat = white
Shifter socket = the $6 one

If you have the g52, yep. It's the white one. I've used these on my 84 and my 89. Hell of a good product. Actually I had one of marlin's first one on my 89. Used to be orange instead of red white and blue.
