Inspect head gasket for recall work

Inspect head gasket for recall work
Is there a way to tell by visually inspecting the 3.4L engine if the head gasket recall has been done. I've tried emailing Toyata and since the recall is over they can't tell me if it has been done. I'm thinking about purchasing either a 4 runner or a Tacoma in the 95-97 year range.
Thanks

I went to my local toyota dealer service department and I gave the VIN number of my 1994 toyota 4runner and they came up with a print out of when the Head gasket recall is done on my 4RUNNER!!

According to the SSC X01 the 95-97 toyotas with the 3.4L engine were eligable for head gasket replacement. I have called toyota and they won't give me any information on the recall. I believe it is because the SSC expired in on november 2004. Here is a link to a pdf on the SSC. http://bigbri.com/images/SSC/x01intro.pdf
I even tried to get Toyota to get me information on a truck I know had the head gaskets replaced. They just said that there were no open SSC on that truck. That's why I was hoping there was a way to tell if the gasket had been replaced with a visual inspection.
Thanks
