Info on Half Doors for 3rd gen?

I really love the half doors I have seen on Tacos, and I really wan a set for my 3rd gen for the summer, and was wondering if anyone had seen a set(just for the front) on a 3rd gen? I have seen them on Tacos, and someone on Priate or TTORA was selling them. Anyone know if these doors would fit on a Runner, the contours, and shape seem to be about right for a 3rd gen. I also searched and could find no info. I could not build these myself, I am not realy great on working with sheet metal, and even door from the salvage yard run about $200 each. Now if they were pre-made I would mind aying that much, but by the time evryting was done, it would run way too much, and probably wouldnt look that good. Any info would be greatly appreciated,

crazy, i was just searching for this topic a couple nights ago. couldnt find a single thing

i doubt the tacoma doors will fit 4runners, but you could always pick up a set from a junkyard and make your own. if i found a set for cheap enough, i think i would do it just for the heck of it. who says they have to look good?

theres a guy on TTORA that makes quick disconnect pins for the door hinges so you dont have to worry about messing up door alignment. and then you would just have to make some kind of quick disconnect for the window/power locks/speaker wiring.

Yeah, the wiring would be easy enough to take care of with quick disconnects. The door pins wouldnt be bad either, but I tried working with sheet metal once, and it was a PITA to say the least. If I did these it would have to pre-made. Thanks for the thoughts though,

I also love the 1/2 doors, Ive contacted a place, cant remember right now, just who it was, but it was crazy expensive, becuase they would have to make them from scratch.
If someone here was to make them, depending on price, Id buy a set.

hell yeah!!! I do believe that the Taco and 4Rnr doors are interchangeable, I looked at my friends Taco today, and they seem exactly the same. The one I looked at was a non-extended cab, just a regular rab.

does anyone produce them for 3rd gens? well, i'm still not convinced the doors are swappable between tacoma and 4runner, but as far as i know, the marlin tube doors are the only of its kind that is 'mass' produced.

here are some custom half doors on TTORA:

http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31720

http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30247

make your own, and use the quick disconnect hinge pins in that second TTORA link. it'll be cooler, they dont need to look 'good'

EDIT:

you wouldnt even need to 'work' with the sheet metal. just cut some doors down, put some kind of hose on the sharp edges, then wrap the top opening with a thick canvas or vinyl and attach it to both sides. piece of cake.

now, if you want to get tricky, you could out an opening and use the factory switch panel (locks/window/mirror control) and have it use the same quick disconnect. obviously the locks would be pointless, but it might be nice to retain the ability to control every window (and your power mirrors) from the driver seat.

you could even go as far as making some kind of clear plastic window (like jeeps) with a zipper for those rainy/muddy wheeling days.

now that would be slick.

would it look that ghetto to have 4 tube/canvas doors in the summer? i know someone makes a quick pin set for the doors so you dont have to readjust them every time you swap.

My question is, how do you open the door if you cut off the handles?

There is 2 linkages to operate door. Just delete the outside one, and move the inside one down.

I like those ALOT. That is exactly the look I want. I honestly think they would fit on a Runner, all of the contours, and the shape of the door match up perfectly. ANyone in CA want to pick them up for me and ship them DHL?????? I'm gonna keep my eye on the TTORA classefieds, and Pirate, I really want a set for the summer. ANyone else know if Taco doors and 4Rnr doors are interchangeable????

It seems like if you went to a junk yard or two you could come up with a couple of door that are good enough for half doors. They are gonna get cut up anyway.
Figure out the shape you want and go to town with a saws all and then take it to a welding shop to have the top plated off.
