I'm idling high!!

I'm idling high!!

So I took off my Supercharger, injectors, and spark plugs yesterday, and now my truck is idling high for some reason. I've still got my SMT-6 and high pressure 190 LPH fuel pump in, but I can't figure out why it's idling so high. Anybody have any things I should check for to see what's causing it?

Maybe your vacuum lines are mixed up.

Yepper, unfortunately decided to sell it all so I could buy my wife a dirtbike, which was a good decision.

At any rate, what would be really helpful is to see some pics of someone with a 1997 Cal emissions 4runner engine bay, so I could compare the vaccuum lines. Does anyone have that you think?

i dont claim to know much about the 3.4 V6 but is it possible the timing is off ??(if its even adjustable on this V6?)

i know that i accidentally knocked the timing off on my 95 4runner(dont ask.........its a long story ) and it idled high until i was able to adjust it back to spec.

No, because I still have the SMT-6 on there, and it's got zero's across the board on the timing map.

This really sucks not to be able to figure this out. Does anyone have a tubing diagram for a 1997 cal emission 4runner so I can view it against the way I have it set up. This is really hard to find a leak or misconnected tube, that's for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How is getting rid of your toys, TO BUY THINGS FOR YOUR WIFE = a good decision? You've been out in the sun too long little mister!

Just messin'..... Just messin'. I'm a lil' confused though. You rippin' the 4Runner back to stock and selling all the mods, or are you going back to stock so you can sell the 4Runner? (I'm thinking a guy w/ 2 dirt bikes probably needs a Taco to haul the bikes.....)

Check the position of the throttle cable, make sure its back in the stock position? Sounds like there may be too much tension on it.

It was a good decision for our relationship, but not the daily drivability and enjoyment I got from driving my 4runner, that's for sure. I'm not selling the 4runner, and I just took those high ticket items off, and all the off-roading stuff I've done is staying on.

I know that sounds simple, and I will check it again, but it's got to be something different, although maybe I don't have quite enough slack. I'll check it again. I hope it's that simple.

Yes and no! After figuring out it was the gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum, I thought I had fixed it, but it didn't. So now it's off and on, resulting in overly bad gas mileage and occasional high idle problems. So, I'm hoping to replace the gasket with the TRD S/C supplied o-gasket, and just hope it works.

P.S. For any of those thinking about it, the o-gaskets that come with the Helix Power Tower will not work, which is what I've been using here recently without the power tower, of course.
