No, you can't get it.

My Dad got a new car (Pontiac Aztec ) so it has XM already. He had the dealer pull the Sirrus headunit (Kenwood KDC-30222) and the radio module for me to have. Thanks Dad! Now I have to get it all installed and the service is prepaid for about 6 months too.

Where could I put the sat. radio module. I know it could go in one of those rear compartments, but I keep fluids in there. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Did he fall for the sign up for 6 month of Sirrus and get the Aztec free deal?

No, he fell for the "I'm old, secure, don't care what I drive and had GM discounts out the wazoo" deal.

He traded in a black Olds Achiva 2-door, I's still not sure if this was a step up or not...

XM vs Sirius?

This is kind of off the topic... but I've had XM for months now, and upon listening/playing with my buddies Sirius, I would rather have Sirius hands down. I guess it will vary with individual, but my listening preferences of rock/metal/classic rock/pop/country were all better met with Sirius. At any rate, enjoy the radio there man, and plan on putting your CD's away, they'll rarely get used now, trust me!

My wife and I have the new JVC plug and plays that go from the car to home audio. We love it. More nights than not, we try different Sirius stations than watch DVDs or TV. I've heard Sirius is planning to offer sat. tv in a couple of years. Buy some stock now?

Damn dude,
Sorry about the aztec... As for sirius, if you live in a town that has a lot of tree cover, sat radio might not be the best thing for you. I love mine, but being in savannah it skips a lot b/c of all the trees that hang over the road. Another little tid bit, Sirius is planning on having sat dvd rental service. Where it sends the movie right to your tv. Kinda neato... The unsensored thing really makes for some interesting djs too... One thing I found out though... Sirius has 3 sat.s to xms 2, but I found out that the xm sats are on orbit with the earth and stay directly over the states where siuius sats travel. There was a gif somewhere that had the two orbits on there, you could probably find it w/ a google search. It really is nice having your stations where ever you are though. Plus, fm SUCKS back home.

I installed my Sirius receiver under the drivers seat.

The wires have been "cleaned up"

Hey Travis, thats what I was thinking too, I have the same exact module. You haven't had issues with dust and the little cooling fan have you? I keep my rig pretty clean.

As far as the coverage around here, my Dad has had is in his old car for 2 years and we get great coverage. The XM sats. are in a geosynchronous orbit a sopposed to Sirrius with a traditional orbit, cool, I never knew that.

You guys will think this is dumb, but my Dad's car has XM, my Mom's has XM aftermarket, I'm geting Sirius now plus we have both an XM and Sirius reciver in the house, thats 5 subscriptions! Sat radio has been good to us though, my dad got 1000 shares of each when nobody knew what they were, I bought 100 of each. $$$

I listen almost exclusively to country, along with some classic rock, talk/news and some 80s music, so I perfer Sirius myself.

I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted, thanks.

I've got the Kenwood Sirius KDC MVP Sat/Mp3 and mounted my receiver right behind the radio. I kept it closer to the passenger side to be able to access the out put jacks. Love the Sirius, have yet to find any dead spots for reception, but I might just be lucky too.

So what kind of music is XM geared towards? Thanks!

that's where mines mounted, I ran my wires under the carpet though so it just looks like a box. I've been thinking of moving it though since some water crossings I've been in recently looked to have been almost high enough to get in and trash it.

Yeah I did the same thing. That pic was taken when installing it to make sure I had enough clearance.

I have had mine installed for 14 months, no problems here!
