Talking I'm back and I'm a 3rd genner now but I need help

Picked up my new 3rd gen after selling my 2nd gen and searching for 4 months without wheels. I'd like to say it payed off but we'll see. I picked up this runner just like it sits. I just realized it has the rear locker also. It's got high miles but it hauls ass and it runs very well. The undercarriage is in excellent shape compared to my last runner that was rusted out. It has needs and I need advice on wheels and exhaust. The p.o. put true dual exhaust on it but decided to leave off the mufflers. I'm not a fan of the super loud exhaust and I'm pretty sure no mufflers isn't very green planet friendly. So my question is if I just want basic quiet exhaust will Midas do the trick? I hate to ruin performance or mpg with crappy mufflers. This truck is very fast and smooth with acceleration.

Tundra wheels
Are these supposed to fit cuz they sure as touch the control arms. I cannot even get my finger in there.

could be wrong here, but i think that is a 3rd gen, pretty sure the offset and backspacing is the same as the runner. my vote it either wheel spacer or skinnier tire. i like the oil filter access. Nice rig!

That is a 3rd gen...I'm confused? And those wheels have factory BS of 4.5" I believe so your gonna need spacers to run those tires.

You need some wheel spacers.

That's a 3rd gen from what I see.

95-02 is 3rd gen 03-09 4th gen. any muffler is quieter than no muffler.

I'd like to keep the wheels I like the way they look. Will the spacers do the trick or is it still not safe? Right now it looks like if I turned the wheel hard at some decent speed it would blow the sidewall right out. I'm guessing I need a hi jack lift to change tires now also?

I doubt you have a true dual exhaust. You might wanna double check, it might just be a cat-back split or something. If you do though, a muffler shouldn't hamper your performance or MPG

Those look like Sequoia rims?

Well it would be nice to know exactly what type of wheel they are. So I can get proper backspacing info and know what spacer to order. Any more input on what these wheels are would be greatly appreciated.

jacumja - What size tire are you currently running? I have the same wheels on my 4runner but I'm thinking about jumping up a tire size and changing to a more aggressive tire. I'm currently running 265/65/17 Dunlop Grandtrek AT20's.

Thanks!

Jefe23

I'll check on that for you, these tires ride pretty nice for being all terrains.

Its got a lot of miles 250,000 it is fast, smooth and has a minor tick that speeds up with acceleration I think its the timing belt. But I'm gonna replace that asap just in case, its worth it not to blow the head. I just noticed a throttle body spacer which may explain the pick up. I dont know going from a 95 v6 to this one is a lot diff.

Just an FYI, the 3.4 is a non-interference motor - meaning that the valves don't get bent if the timing belt breaks. The truck just won't run. Not saying you shouldn't do the TB, but no damage will occur.

3rd gens are actually 96-02 but if you got that for $2500 something else is probably not been revealed to you about it.

Auto tranny? I am guessing it has had the milkshake issue for example-hope not but just saying that price is way too good to be true. Good idea to get the Tbelt done. It should have been done every 90K miles. SO roughly 3 times by now.
