I'm pretty sure that Jeeps can do it because they all have the lip for the door that keeps things from coming out. You might be able to do it anyway, just pull them and see what happens. My brother ran with out doors on his Dodge Power Wagon for a while, never any trouble.

I believe that the requirement is a 2" lip at the door, if you look at a jeep you will notice that there is a good size lip there. I think it is basically to keep stuff on the floor from rolling out.

I run my pickup without any doors...I am not sure on the exact laws here in AZ but ive passed many cops and never had any problems. AZ has fairly relaxed laws though...
I think your biggest issue would be if you have side mirrors or not when you take the doors off...I could see the cops hassling about that more so than not having doors.

half doors can be had for around $250

Side mirrors are not required by law till you get up to a certain size of vehicle.I like doors the keep my junk in the truck along with the airconditioning. If you want to remove them I would get some tube doors. That way you have some protection and the cops couldnt bitch if the wanted to.

Marlin has em' for 195 plus shipping, just bolts right into the factory hinges. You can swapem' out with the regular doors in about 20 minutes.

there is a thread similar to this somewhere here that i posted on... the general rule is that a jee pcan do it because they have a body tub with a raised side... the problem with doing it on a truck is there is no safety lip. in CA, (yes i know its not like everywhere else, but it is still a law) you must have at least a 2" lip at the bottom of where a door would be higher than the floor. and as far as mirrors go, you need to have any and all mirrors that were equipped OEM on your vehicle, unless its the one in the cab (rearview) if you have something rendering it inoperable like a shell or some kind of rack in the back.....

I guess thats to keep the beer cans from rolling out and on to the highway.CA was nice till the law makers got a hold of it.I will just stay down here.Anyway you could make a removable panel and attach one to the tubes just to make that stupid law happy.

I have heard that you have to have all the mirrors that came on the car from the factory like someone said above. i also heard that you can take the jeep doors off because they were made from the factory to slip on and off as an option. that is just what i have heard though.

Actuly, ive herd the exact opposite. The doors dont give any added protection aside from maybe a car hitting you in the side. The cab is made to crush the same with doors, as it is without. Now, jeep cherokees on the other hand, no doors = crumpled jeep

Ive seen 2 toyotas w/o doors in accidents, both pretty major accidents. one of them from the side, and one from the front. The cab seemed to be intact for the most part.

a cherokee, needs its doors, its unibody... a wrangler doesnt, it has a cage for structural integrity and the tub is pretty sturdy...

i dont think there is any protection i nthe toyta doors, at least not my 85 4x2... a lot of cars have big metal bars in the doors, but my toyta doesnt... on the freeway, my doors actually flex about an inch from vibration.....

My neighbor has an old Scout with no doors. He drives it all the time here in Burbank and the police never hassle him.

toyotafiberglass.com has some nice looking fiberglass half doors that will bolt right in to the factory hinges complete with mirrors etc. 'could be an option for you. Cheers aviator

i would do half doors. actually i am going to be doing that. and if you are running half doors i would just make them yourself.

Here's some good ideas for half doors: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...86#post2506986

that just my thinking though.
