Hi,
I have a 98 4rnr w/180k miles (just got my oil changed last week @ 180,020)

I seemed to have fried my ignition switch, and need to replace it.
The Hanyes manual goes as far as telling me how to test it, and take the lock cylinder out, but does not tell me what I need to do to replace the actual switch.

I picked up the new switch this afternoon at the local Toyota dealer (such a small thing!).

I assume that this is a relatively easy thing to do, but just wanted to know if there is anything I need to look out for.
When I was looking at it yesterday, I didnt notice any screws holding it in... but it seems to be in there pretty tight. What am I missing?

iirc it is behind the lock cylinder. i wasnt paying enough attention to remember when my dad did the lock cylinder swap on my brothers 98

Got it done on Monday night.

As it turns out it was an easy fix. How can the dealer quote me $300-400 and sleep at night?!
The Haynes manual was pretty much useless for this, as it only tells how to take out the lock cylinder, and does not even touch on the replacement of the actual ignition swtich.

Once I got the panel removed, and the 2 connectors removed, there are only 2 small phillips screws keeping it in place.
Getting to the screws was a pain, b/c the air duct was in the way. another philips screw removed and i pulled the duct out of the way, just enough to get a screw drive in.
15min later, I had her back together and working great (except that I had drained the battery quite a bit trying to crank her.).
