Ignition lock cylinder problems!!!
I recently replaced the ignition lock cylinder in my 2000 4runner and lost both of my keys therefore i can't start it or remove the old lock cylinder. And because its not the factory cylinder I can't get a new key cut. The locksmith wants over $250 to make me a new key. Is there anyway for me to remove the cylinder without the key??? If I were to drill out the release pin would the cylinder just slide out or would I damage the housing?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would pay the $250. I had to replace the whole ignition switch housing cause a little part broke off which connected to the lock cylinder to the part which starts the car. The replacement from the dealer cost me about that much and I had to drill out the breakaway bolts which the factory puts on these. Wasn't that hard but I'd say that spending the $250 and having a locksmith do it and cut you new keys would be easier. Also, I would suggest you cut way more than two keys. I usually keep at least five keys for each of my vehicles. Just in case.
