IGN switch failure (key)

Was just getting my son's 85 4X4 truck back together to start running it again. Started this morning just fine. After lunch the key would not go into the ign. Ended up going over to the guy that has the 4Runner and pulling the Ign switch assy out of it (got the matching door locks too). But it is a PITA to do. At least I know that the switch doesn't remove by just pulling 2 bolts off the switch and dropping it out.

So he's decided to part the runner out?

I don't have the "official" word yet. But I think my taking the ignition switch may have signalled the start. His son (the owner and driver during the roll) says it was purchased in Canada origionally, the 2nd owner brought it to the states. It IS an SR5. Grey exterior, grey interior. Has the chrome SR5 wheels, miles per hour speedometer with tach, 5 speed trans. Still working with him to get digi-pix. Are there any particular views anyone is interested in?

Pics of the general condition of the dash and a pic of the interior door panels to see if they're the really nice ones with the full armrest or just the same as what I have would be great.

Don't know what you mean about full arm rest. These were about 14" long and had plugs in the screw hole openings. The panels looked very good. Fancier than the ones in Jesse's truck at least. The pass door has the handle to open the door from the rear seat. The Pass door's window frame is bent down slightly. The driver's door looks straight, has slight dings in skin. The dash looks great.

You're right. It's a LOT easier to get it out than that. There's a trick you can use, the whole ignition tumbler can be removed in seconds. I don't think I wanna post it here though, I kinda like my rig, wanna keep it.

Those sound like mine. There's a rare version that has the power window/lock switches integrated into the armrest, they're apparently impossible to find.

Yes, I know that way too, but it usually needs a key inserted to work correctl. However if they aren't concerned about damage..............
