If I were to sell my 4runner...

Screw that, i decided to keep it. Just had to de-mod.. and I still love it. Look at the last post for items for sale.

Maximas have massive torque steer...my choice would be a 3 series but you don't want that...I think those acuras are probably gonna be a little high price wise as most I've seen don't get much lower then mid teens...what about a volvo 850 T5-R http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...p=y&cardist=66
or http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...=y&cardist=227

Get yourself a corolla until you can truly afford something nicer and quit mooching off of everyone.

Something tells me that it isn't just gas that is taking your money, maybe a high monthly payment, random mods and repairs, I would say sell/part out the runner and get something cheap that you can pay off immediately, like $2000-$3000 max and wait for a new nicer expensive vehicle until after you are done school. Trust me, it is worth it.

The only cars on that list that are anywhere close to $10k are the Honda and Nissan, and the Honda is also probably the only one that doesn't need premium gasoline.

"Gas Mileage" = Fuel effeciency = Miles per Gallon
Fuel Economy = The amount of $$$ it takes to fill up <-- This is what you are after.

my Dad's friend has a 97( or so) Camry for $1800.. I could pay that off, and have plenty of money left over. I'm about to graduate in a year and i will probably be getting something new/nicer then. Thanks for the input!

Are you making payments on the runner? or is it just the gas? If the car is paid off and its just gas money dont bother with it, make other lifestyle changes. You will miss the runner and kick yourself later for getting rid of it. If you are only 1 year away from graduating just bum money from mom and dad until you can afford to pay them back and have enough for bills. Just my $.02

That sound like a good plan. Or you could sell some of the stuff off your 4runner, make some money and make it more gas mileage friendly again.

If I had to buy other than Toyota, it would be Nissan. Honda is crap. You could even skip a little bling and settle for an Altima. They are very common, but solid cars for a little amount of money.

Something cheap and reliable until you get out of college. Also something that is abundant so if it does tear up then there are plenty of parts cars in the junkyards. Try to pocket some cash from selling the 4Runner and buying another car, you will feel much better with money in the bank.

if you're looking at the accord v6 or tl/cl automatic, id stay away from them. they are notorious for transmission failures. honestly, i love honda cars. they are reliable, easy to work on, and parts are pretty cheap compared to some other foreign makes. not to metion they are nice looking cars. if you're looking at the accord, go with the 4cyl. the tl does not come in in manual, but the cl has an available 6speed manual. if you're trying to stay under 10k you might wanna look for something cheaper. any of the models you mention going for less than 10k are probably beat to ˟˟˟˟˟ or have been wrecked.

True, the TL's do have major transmission problems. I have a friend that is an Acura tech writer and he says that one from 2000 through 2003-the transmission will die before 75k miles, it's almost a sure thing, and then the replacement trans is also likely to die later on.

It's hard to beat the relaibility of a Camry or Corolla or Accord or Civic. Watch out for some of the 4cyl Camry's-which years had the sludge engines?

What about parting out any/all of your mods and then paying down the truck? A stock 4Runner still beats a Camry.

I've found someone that wants to buy the 4runner and SAS it in the near future.. they're into fab. work so it'll be built. I also know them pretty well so I will be able to take it offroad whenever.
