Idle Speed Problems
When I first start my car when it is cold, it idles at about 1200 to 1250 rpms. Is this the right speed?
Right after the engine warms up the idle will drop to just above 500 rpms in gear. If I keep driving the truck the idle speed will pick up to about 750 to 800 rpms in gear. The other night after I did a lot of city driving the idle went up more and was idling at 1000 rpms in gear.
Does anyone know what could be my problem?
I just got a new TPS and my timing fixed. The car has new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, and fuel filter.
This is my only problem left to fix.
Thanks

It is normal to idle that high when it has been sitting and is cold. I think a normal idle for our rigs is 750-800 rpm's. However, I think this still partially depends on the temperature. Mine idles at this rpm in the summer, but higher (around 900-950 or ) in the winter.
