Idle problems?

Just recently I noticed that in Park and Neutral my 01 Prerunner 4D will idle at 1250-1500 RPM. I have cleaned everything including the MAFS and still runs a bit high. In drive it idles at about 900 RPM. Any ideas?

If you cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner, you allowed the liquified carbon to flow down into the IAC valve. To unclog it, pull off the plastic tube to the TB and squirt a couple of shots of carb cleaner down both holes in front of the throttle plate and quickly start the engine. Leave off the intake tube. The engine will fire up and stall. Do that 4 times and it should suck the carbon out of the valve pintle. Its important to do this with the engine is cold so the valve is in the open position.

Some suggest removing the IAC to clean it but that really isnt necessary. The next time you clean it, cover the holes or spray rag and wipe it clean instead of spraying it with carb cleaner.

Cool

Yes it did throw the P505 code about a week ago but hasn't come back since I cleared it. I pulled the MAF sensor out and cleaned it, but I did not clean the TB at all. Should I pull the tube out and clean out the TB as well, or do I leave it alone?

BTW: Know any place that I can order parts that is reasonable? I live on Maui and refrain from going to the local dealer (rip-off)! I was ordering from Texas Toyota before but would like to find someone closer.

Cleaning the throttle body helped me with this problem a small amount. Seperating the iac from the throttle body and cleaning the iac with carb cleaner solved your exact problem for me. The iac valve becomes seized with carbon deposits.

I saw a write up were a guy resealed the iac with permatex. Don't do it! The iac will just become seized again! Lesson learned the hard way

Check and see if your throttle plate is closing all the way and if it isn't then here's what worked for me... https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/m...-cured-258318/

Hello guys!
Please excuse me cause I am a noob when it comes to this type of stuff, but what does MIL , IAC, MAF, and TB stand for?
I ask because I have the same problem. Except my park and neutral are at 700rpm and my idle on drive is under 500rpm.

Edit: Also, I have also gotten the P0505 code.

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp (aka CEL/"Check Engine Light")
IAC = Idle Air Control
MAF = Mass Air Flow
TB = Throttle Body

Any lights on on your dash?

Oh ok thanks! And I have to make a correction. On Park and Neutral, rpm is at 500. On Drive it drops to 400. Super low because sometimes it drops under 400 and the car tries to bring it up them down then up and it feels like its so close to stalling. Sometimes it has stalled.

I get the check engine light every so often. The code it gives is p0505. Any ideas on where I should start.? Thanks for all the help.
