Question idle control valve

My 2000 4runner SC v6 is getting a 60000 mile service done and the dealership said my idle control valve is getting bad. I've been having low idle from a cold start up where the rpm's are hovering above 1000 at the crank. My service rep. said it's going to cost 390 bucks to install a new valve. I'm wondering if it's easy to install the valve myself because labor is 150 dollars of that 390. Any help is appreciated!

For that much $, you could buy the FSM, get the part from TOR, and buy some tools.

Why isnt that covered under the powertrain warranty? Are you over 60K miles?

yeah i'm actually at 61500, so yup, bye bye coverage. i've actually installed the supercharger myself, so this should be a piece of cake, however it is something i never did before and that is why i'm looking for some input.

Forget the dealer on that price. Do it yourself!
