I'm going to mount my sliders using this method.


Can you guys give me ideas on how to "lock" them so that a casual thief can't just un bolt em and walk away with these bad boys?

What about a stinger lock you use on a hitch assembly. Drill it just big enough to fit one in and its protected lock and key style. Beats having some dude down the road with a runner that LIKES those sliders ALOT. He would do the locking for you as he locks them in the back of his runner late at night when your asleep.

Why not use the same system used for trailer recepticals....a pin with a lock?? I'm just guessing here...btw, great idea, I very well my use that as well!

Great minds think alike huh. I like my locking feature style better though. We were both on the right path anyhow atleast.

My first impression would be to say that the casuaul theif may not be able to slide those off as is because the design makes absolute alignment imperative.

Then I get to thinking that perhaps anything is possible and would say tack the nuts on. Just have the guy welding them on tack the bolt so that if you want to get it off, you can grind them down, but any theif without a grinder would be out of luck.

Lastly, I hope that you got a good deal on those because ORS came up big bringing those to the raffle. I am glad they are getting put to use since Alan already is protected. This means when we meet again in Moab, you can really rock and roll!

Reapur, I don't think you will have any punks trying to steal 'em.
Mine are setup the same way.

I took mine off last October to get them powder coated, and I had to have my neighbor help me.
We each sat on the ground and tugged one side at a time.

They are very tight/close tolerances, and simply don't just "slide" out like I was hoping for.
They do come out, but it took us a while

And when Jeff the owner of Badland Bumpers put them back on again, it took him and his partner awhile, and using rubber mallets to watch them back into place.

More than likely if you have an aftermarket alarm, it's going to go off from the smacking in/out of them to get them to slide on out.

I don't think you will have a problem at all with a thief.

Just weld them on. Any welder worth a crap can cut em off like they were never there without ruining your sliders or your frame. I work in an industrial fab shop and see guys do things like that ALL the time. They weld something on in the wrong place, cut it off, grind it, reweld it, you never knew that it was over there and not here. You weld them on and they'll just steal your rig to get the sliderz!

The nice thing about my setup and the ones Reapur is thinking about getting is for the maintenance of them.

Much easier to pull them off this way instead of breaking a weld if you need to repaint them.

OH, I was thinking about getting the sliders permatech'd http://216.28.21.48/Public/Bedliner/...er/index.shtml I saw their stuff today and it looks thick and grippy. I know the underside will get smashed by the rocks but it sure looked durable for the top part.

I have all of his pics saved on my PC, and I took the pics to Jeff @ Badlands and he said he could do it easily.

When I saw that post a few years back, I knew that was the way I wanted to have mine put on.

You can see the welded on tubes if you look close enough.

The chances of scratching the sides of sliders is pretty good, seeing that you're often tilted when you need them. Since you're making them removable, try them for awhile painted, then decide.

If you're going to lock them, maybe something as simple as a drilled bolt with a padlock, much like the HiLift jack mount uses. Then you can get two locks keyed alike...less keys to keep track of.

Hey Z,

I would be careful about putting anything with grip on the top of your sliders. When I get in and out of my truck with the sliders on I always rub the backs of my legs against them.

Anything with grip might tear holes in your pants or worse your legs.
