Ideas! CD Player not working
I have a stock 6 CD player that refuses to play any of my cd's that I stick in. I've tried burned and out of the wrapper cd's neither work. The player accepts the cd's makes some noises like it's going to work but then spits out the cd.
My car has had a sub and amp installed I'm hoping that this didn't affect my cd player. Any ideas of what I can do to try to get it to start working???

Has it ever worked for you? You might try to get one of those cd cleaner kits and see if that works. Maybe its trying to read the cd but isn't because the lens is too dirty. Otherwise all I can think of is your cd player took a crap.

Never worked I'm going to try to get a cd cleaner kit but I doubt that will work I think it went out. I guess I'm going to have to try to rig my iphone to my radio. The radio is killing me always playing the same crap!

Yeah, understandable about the radio playing the same stuff. Do you listen to many tapes? If not you could get a decent cd player for just over 100 and get one of those install kits to replace where the tape player is and you would have an extra little cubby under the cd player.

you may have to get a new one bro, i had the same thing happen to me, except my cd player never popped out the cd. but it seems to be a common complaint with the stereos after awhile. i just did some modifications and stuck a scion headunit in mine.

yeah mine is on its way there, usually i just tap the face really hard and it will accept CD's. If you have an iphone or an MP3 player you should just get a tapedeck adapter that will plug in a standard minijack. they are like $8 and provide much better quality than an FM transmitter. That way you can plug in your phone/mp3player/portable CD player.

Yeah...I'd try one of those CDs with the brushes on it to clean the CD player head. It may not play at first but in the attempt to try to read the CD the head will get brushed some...may take a few attempts but it could work.

Got the CD Cleaning kit but since it doesn't even seem to want to read the CD it doesn't seem like it's going to make a difference. I'm so pissed I'll have to get the tape deck unit so I can get some decent music.
I think the person that owned it prior to myself got the wiring screwed up back there when they got the amp and sub installed because my center console clock doesn't work either.

and the Clock going out is a very common occurance in the 4Runners. Not every well designed I guess. Sounds like you need a new clock and new CD player, but they are not related.
