Has anyone ever used this, if I am reading correctly this item lets the existing factory controls on the Jbl system in the 03-04 4runner to be used.

The Soundgate PIOTOY1 allows you to add a Pioneer 6 IP-Bus CD Changer and/or a Pioneer XM Satellite receiver directly to certain Toyota, Acura, Honda and Isuzu factory radios. The PIOTOY1 utilizes sophisticated microprocessor control and advanced software design to flawlessly match the Pioneer CD changer and/or XM Tuner to the Toyota operating systems. Works with CDX-P670, P650, P630 and CDX-PD6 (in-dash) Pioneer IP-Bus CD changers and the GEX-P900XM and GEX-FM903XM Pioneer XM Tuners.
The PIOTOY1 utilizes sophisticated microprocessor control and advanced software design to flawlessly match the Pioneer CD changer and/or XM Tuner to your vehicles operating systems. This interface provides a splice-free, direct plug-in into the rear of the factory radio via a matching interface cable.

Operational Notes:

For XM Tuner Only: Press the "CD" button to activate the XM Tuner. To change stations, press the "Tune Up" or "Tune Down" button. During XM Tuner operation, the display on the radio will show CD1 TRXXX where "XXX" is the station number. (Example: Station number 4 will display as TR04, stations 97 will display as TR97, station 149 will display as TR149.)
For CD Changer Only: CD changer operation from the factory radio is per the vehicle owner's manual.
For CD Changer and XM Tuner: Press the "CD" button once and the XM Tuner will activate. Press the "Scan" button to toggle between the XM Tuner and the CD changer. Operation and display when using the XM Tuner is per note above. CD changer operation is per note above.

The only problem I can see with this is that it will not display the song information, station or any of the other features of the Satellite radio. You will get the sound, but you will have to toggle through over 100 stations using the "tune up, tune down" button. I don't think the Toyota presets will work with it in "CD" mode.

If you can live without the song/station info and presets, then go for it!
