I think I broke my MC bleeding brakes Help!

Arggghh!
Last week I replaced my front brake pads and flushed the brake fluid.
Originally I tried a vacuum pump but wasn't getting anywhere, so I did the brake pedal method. (Can't remember if I had the acc on or off). Anyway, the truck starts fine after about 100 yards then the VSC Trac and VSC off lights come on.

***Please Note***
The ABS or check engine light did not come on, like it does when your truck pulls a code and goes into limp mode. I used a OBD scan and no codes were pulled. I have the VSC disable mod switch, and it still functions. (ie when activated the VSC Trac/off and ABS lights come on). But when I turn off the switch and restart the VSC Trac/off stay on and the ABS goes off.

I have read that the master cylinder could have been damaged during the bleed. Anyone experienced this have some recomendations for the next course of action.

Thanks for your knowledge.

Lance

You should take a look at the fsm for your specific model and see what the bleeding procedure is. Alot of traction control setups work thru the abs and i have seen a few vehicles outside of toyota that if you do not open the bleeder when pushing back the caliper pistons throws the abs light on. Hopefully this helps somehow.

you could also try the bottle(s) and gravity feed method--attach hoses to all four nipples and open them. watch level and add fluid as needed until the system is bleed.

low levels?

I might have let the oil reservoir get a little low during the proceedure. Do you think this could have had an impact?

(I replaced my brake Master Cylinder ealier this year.) You mean brake fluid was low? Yes (vs oil). If your brake fluid was low, you could have introduced a bubble in your line and that is no fun.

The poor man method to fix is getting your friend to help you again and bleed each wheel: starting at rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver. In other words, working the farthest line first and the shortest line last. (You might have already know this)

I can't comment on a low level damaging the MC as I have no knowledge.

Do a search on here or maybe it was on Ultimateyota. There was a member that had the exact same problem. It turned out to be the bleeding method or something.

This isn't the one I was referring to but It might help.

Please let us know what you find out. I'm curious about this issue. If you cannot find the problem and you're close to Golden, CO, then try a visit to Jesse at ATLR.NET (Affordable Toyota and Lexus Repair).
