I'm Synthetic and more!!!

Had a blast working on my runner last weekend...and most important I learned so much. Here is what I accomplished.

60K Maintenance Items

Changed Oil and Filter: Mobil1 Synthetic 5w30 and Toyota Filter
Changed Rear Diff Lube: Mobil1 Synthetic 75w90
Fully Flushed Auto Transmission: Mobil1 Synthetic ATF
Flushed Cooling System: Toyota Red Coolant
Changed Spark Plugs: Toyota OEM Nippon Denso

Had it not been for yotatech, i would be shelling out some bones to the stealer for these items...but i know it was done RIGHT!!!

A few notes.

1) After I flushed the tranny and i went to shift I noticed a definite improvement in the ease of shifting and even moreso when driving and shifting from 1st to second. It was a little abrupt, now it is a smooth as can be.

2) My engine runs quieter at idle with the synthetic oil.

3) The engine is more peppy with the new plugs. Nothing wrong with the wires...I'll probably wait til 90K to change those.

4) Gear Lube STINKS!!!

Should I continue to use the recommended change intervals for the synthetics or should I be able to go a little longer?

I agree. I hate that smell.

The interval kinda depends on your driving habits and conditions. I personally feel that using synthetics lengthens most intervals slightly. I would add another 10K on the normal intervals, but that's just me.

don't you usually need to use a machine to do a flush?

To my knowledge, a flush is taking out the old and putting in the new at the same time? Or is that wrong?

Btw congrats on the synthetic change, I really wanna change all my fluids to synthetic but I dont' know how, and I don't have a place to do it.

Ah well,

Rob-

I think you can get all the old out by using the trans cooler lines. But you are right, ultimately a T-Flush machine is what you want.

Rob,
It was really not that hard at all. If you need any guidance I would be more than willing to lend an e-hand. As far as the flush, I did the cooler line method and I am almost 100% sure I got all of the old ATF out, I used 18 quarts just to make sure. Thanks for the props!!!

Thanks for the offer, but with all the problems I've been having, and with school and work, I'm just not gonna touch my runner anymore until I graduate and have the time, money, and place to work on her.
