I have a request for everyone here...

I'd like to make one request of everyone here:

Please be as accurate as possible when you are talking about your rig... even if it doesn't seem like a big deal at the time.

Over the last week or so I've been doing a lot of searches on the board trying to dig up information about fitting 33s. If you do a search for "33s", you'll get a bzillion results. Turns out only about 3 of them are actually talking about 33s - the rest are talking about 285s (which are NOT 33s).

So please, when talking about your rig, giving advice, asking a question, whatever, please be as specific and accurate as possible. Not just to ensure you get/give the proper information, but also to make the search a more viable option for digging up info.

Most everyone that has been around already know that 285's aren't 33", but they are a heck of a lot closer to being 33" in diameter, compared to tires that are marked 33" on the sidewalls. Example the 285/75R16 BFG AT's are 32.9" actual, but the 33x12.50R15 BFG AT's are 32.7" actual diameter. Then each company brand of tire can be different, so the results vary quite a bit, in other words, when we talk about 33" tires, it's general knowledge that it's the range of tires from all manufacturers that fit in the category.

Yes, I understand how different manufacturers have different actual diameters. To me, when you refer to a 33, that means a 33/12.5-15 (or whatever width it is). If you have the metric version on a 16" wheel, it's a 285. There is a difference, especially in width. And width isn't offen specified when people say "33s". It may not be much of a difference... but in this game of IFS/lifts/tires/wheeling, it doesn't take much to cause a problem.

And for as often as we refer people to the search, we should at least be as accurate as possible. It's not a big deal when people list their mods in their sig line because it's easy to check if their "33" is a 285 or a 33. But not everyone does that and long sig lines get annoying in a hurry.

Just my opinion... take it for what it's worth. I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers.
