I HATE Decesions

Well this really sucks, after my wreckwith my "old" black Runner and the purchase of the "new" Desert Dune Runner. There are to mayn bills on my plate and my parents are unable to help me out anymore. The payments & insurance on the "new" Runner pretty much wipe me out and cause me to live paycheck to paycheck with no mod money or fun spending $$$. So my question is this, my dad offered to take the Desert Dune Runner offmy hands and he would pay the bills there(of course who wouldn't want a fully loaded 5spd E-locked Runner). And I could get a cheaper Runner(technically a beater) and drive the Desert Dune one on dates or road trips if need be. I found a nice 85' SFA Runner for $4,500, with 32" Mud Rovers, good condition, 169K. What do you guys think. Should I go for a SFA 1st gen or would my cushy papered butt be left wanting the ol' 3rd gen all to myself, and curse my beater. Help me out, I know it's all a matter of opinions and it all will finally come down to just me but I still like to have some other people's thoughts.

Dude I know what you mean by being strapped and living month to month. That is how most people are.

IMHO I think you should keep the 3rd gen. The ride quality on 1st and 2nd gens just isn't the same.

You only go around once - keep the 3rd gen. and suffer like the rest of us

Think FJ-62 LAND CRUISER, Fuel Injected and 4 years newer. Originally sold for 23,000 and mini's and 4Runners were around 15K tops back then.

I would never buy anything but a Cruiser at this point. They are amazing what Toyota designed into them. Hand Throttles, Extended Breathers, Super Heavy Duty everything, move on up to the flagship of the Toyota line.

I paid $4800 for our FJ-62, they key is to calm down, have patience and hold out for what you want, it WILL come along.

I would probly get the 1st gen and just drive the 3rd when needed. I would rather have money to live on then have a nice truck with no money to hook it up or go out with.

Then you could realy get crazy with the 1st gen and have a nice 3rd to drvie the best of both worlds!

Of course it goes without saying that I added just as much or more to get it where it is today.

Like mgspann said, live paycheck to paycheck like the rest of us or sell it and buy something you can afford. Don't let mom and dad keep bailing you out. They will hold it over your head one day.

P.S. Hope this didn't offend you. I just don't understand how some parents always bail the kids out, this goes for grandparents too. Don't they understand that this will never teach them the value of making their own decision and living with the consequence of that decision. Sorry for the rant.

Pay check to pay check is probably how a lot of people live. As long as this is costing you to move into crappy housing or you can't afford to eat I say wait a while and see how it plays out.

BTW - the first gen you mentioned is one of the most desired Toy trucks around. EFI and solid axle. SWEET!

Paul H., don't worry Itook no offence to that because it doesn't apply to me really. My parents have only bailed me out partially twice. They payed half of my cr payment two seperate months, both 1/2 payments whichI paed back the week after the payment was due. I have a pretty nice set-up right now. Nothing is getting in the way, live at home and I'm entierly responsible for ALL my payments, insurance, cell phone, ect... But no rent and no food bill helps alot. I'm pretty sure that if I was on my own I would be doing what you guys were saying, crappy housing, and no food in the fridge:pat: . But it's not so I think I wil try to ride it out the best I can. I just have a heavy heart because I haven't taken my girlfriend out anywhere nice or done anything really specia in about 6 or 7 months b/c Iam so strapped for $$$$. If she wasn't Soooo understanding about my situation and my absolute PASSION fr 4Runners and off-roading then I should havebeen single a LONG time ago. Thanks guys for all the input

96 Runner, that is what I was originally looking at with the 85' but true to my own form I'm changing my mind and wondering if I can make this 3rd gen thing work. Thanks for all your inpu guys, it's nice to have other thought patterns other than my own, and from people that really understand the obsession and passion behind our trucks and modding them.  Group Hug:cry:

Stump, you do sound like a very responsible 20 year old. Glad to hear it. I wish my 20 year old step-daughter and 17 year old step-son were the same. Good luck on your decision and be glad that you have a very understanding girlfriend. Treat her good.
