I had a few problems with the '95 after I bought it.
Rear transfer case seal Idler arm Rear main seal which ruined a clutch Rear transfer case seal Rear axle seal which oiled the brakes Rear transefer case seal (replaced by dealer free) Rear axle seal which oiled the brakes Rear transfer case seal It's now 6 years since I bought it and it looks like the rear main seal is leaking again as well as the rear transfer case seal. It's been trouble free for 2 years now. But I firmly believe that once you work the kinks out, its a very dependable vehicle.

Axle Seals... U Joint... Steering system lines... Counterbalance weight under transfercase... Ripped completely off... oh, getting a little water in the engine... (i dont go in deep anymore)

I didnt include what I broke. That would include CV jounts, U joints, bumper, 3 fenders, a windows, windshield, seatbelt, dash, alternator, battery, headlights, corner light, Actually the cracker collector and muffler would be my fault because I drove thru water up to my headlights a number of times. I cant remember what else I broke. Know there is more.
But the memories are worth wild ![]() |

hehe.. well, I bought my 91 with the college grad money I got this fall. After 3 weeks, my 3.0 spun a bearing by which i spent $2200 replacing the engine, and also repairing a cracked radiator (figured since it was in the shop, might as well fix that leak too... hehe). The cause of this? I was travelling through central Oregon on a 300mile trip to my parents, and 1/2 through the trip the engine burned up nearly all the oil. When the damage had already been done, I topped her off to determine just how low she was, and it took 4.5 quarts =). Lovely grad present huh? lol. I wound up being stranded at 3am on out in the boonies lol.

I'll start with what I've replaced in the past year(nothing just for the fun of it, all because they were toast).
Tires Tie rod ends(inside and out) Pitman arm Idler arm steering stabilizer shocks lift blocks(my rear springs were sagging too much) new rear ring and pinion oxygen sensor speakers battery replaced corroded batery wires plug wires/dist./rotor timing belt replaced manual hubs replaced drivers's side wheel bearings Probably more... What still needs to be fixed passenger side wheel bearings Cracked dash and miscolored interior panels torn seats climate controls broken CB broken right taillight/quarter panel smashed rear bumper smashed driver's side vent/quarter window tweaked(won't close) driver's side halfshaft toast Cylinder 4 is at 100psi & Cylinder 5 is at 60psi So basically, I need a new engine. I'm sure there is more that needs to be replaced that I just haven't realized yet.

If it's any encouragement, in Dec 2002 I t-boned my runner into a tree, did $9,000 in damage had to pay almost 1000 out of pocket, but I still kept her, you know why, cause she's a Toyota. She's treated me very well since then, it's always been worth the investment.

If it makes you feel any better my brother has the biggest piece of crap for a car. He has a 300ZX which he bought for like 3500 and has spent 10,800 dollars on it in only mechanical repairs. It currently isn't running and hasn't run properly in over a month. But as for my Yota..
New Wiper Blades Air Filter Exhaust (but it didn't need that) So far so good... |
