How wide is to wide, wheel question.

Ok I just purchased five ten inch wide black rock crawlers. Aside from being ten inches wide is 3/4" backspacing way to wide? they look wider than I expected them to and this worries me. Thoughts? Blue

They only have 3/4s of an inch bs? If so I'd say its way too wide. That would prolly mess up wheel bearings too.

Are you sure they're not 3/4" off set? I think that would make them 4" 1/4 back spacing.

Hmmm you just have to get all technical on me. I just remember the guy I ordered them from saying 3/4 something.

I would not run a 12.5" wide tire on a 10" rim if I were airing down to 15 or less.

My 8" wides do well at 10-12 on rocks with 12.5" wide rims.

3/4" Backspacing? WTF?

Ok I measured the rim. It is seven inches deep from the outside. It measures three to four inches on the inside of the rim. Does that help?

I rarely air down below 20.

Yea thats sounds alot better. Sounds like 3and 3/4" bs. The tires will prolly stick out some but you should have a nice wide stance. Again with wider wheels watch your bearings.

By having this wide of a set up will it fry them just like that or should it be cool?

Hey Glad to see your going wider once you increase your wheel base youll notice way better traction. however youll feel more body roll. or it might just be psychosematic I run 15x10 rims on 31x11.5 and I air down to 12psi with no problems the problem lies in the off set it'll stick out so far and you'll be able to see the drum in the rear.

I just spoke to a guy at the Piercy toyota dealership in San Jose with a monster white Taco. He did the 3/4 off set rim and when I was behind him I saw the drums however he also had a bad a$$ SAS in the front and invited me to 4wheel with his club TTORA as they are planning a Holister Run

He said if he could "wider is better and as far as the height he had to remove a few leafs" however he is running 35's and they look small. he needs at least 38's to give it a full look. I run 10's so that its wider like a H1 and more stabler light rubbing at full articulation watch out for the fenders and no worries aboutthe frame rubbing.
good luck Fly

Peace Big Kahuna

I run 8" w/ 33x12.5's and I am comfy w/ them... My bro in law runs 35x12.5's w/ 10" wheels and he rubs the wheels alot on rocks and has popped a bead twice that I know of(while I was w/ him). If you don't air down to much thats fine but you will still rub em' on stuff... :pat: and that sucks

No worries bLUE TRY THEM AND HAVE FUN DOING IT. Like DBike said watch the bearings I'v been lucky also watch out for big rocks hitting the drums. I'd try 15x12's with your lifts also stiffer shocks to take away some body roll

Im not in to deep with them. If you wanted to make an offer I would prolly work with you on a shipping cost split. I just will have nowhere for them anywhere. Let me know, its your call. Blue
