How rare is the 4runner 5 speed with E-locker?

I've been searching eBay, the classifieds, Autotrader, and dealerships but can't seem to find any. Just how rare are they? I'm almost ready to give up.

When I bought my truck, Autoland here in NJ hand about 15-20 3rd gens total, it was in '03 when the 4th gens first came out, so everyone wanted the new one I guess. There was one 5 speed e-locked 4x4 on the lot there, but it was a 4 banger. I opted for the newest one, the '01 sport, cause at the time I just wanted a raised hood with under 50k miles. Big mistake. I have seen a few for sale but for some reason it is almost always with a 4 cylinder. A little tougher to find than the auto, but still not bad, I have never seen one with a v6 though,

pretty rare, at least when i looked (especially in TX). i was fortunate enough to find a 5spd, so i jumped at it. i would say find a 3.4L 4x4 5spd and worry about the locker later, thats what i ended up doing.

Here's the breakdown: when Toyota N.A. stopped importing manuals at the end of the 2000 model year, they made up only 10% of total 4Runner sales in the U.S., and 50% of those were in Colorado. Figure in how many actually came with the locker and then do the math. 2.7 or 3.4, they were still pretty rare.

I don't know how rare it is, but I'm still happy with my '97 Anthracite, SR5, V6, 4x4, 5 speed, E-locker, leather, moonroof, equipped 4Runner.

I didnt even waste the time trying to find a e-locked 5-spd, they are almost non-existant. Notice I said ALMOST, I know there are ones out there, they are just very rare. Since I have the knowledge and tools to swap one in, I didnt waste the time. I found the rig I wanted, regardless of locker, and ran with it.

Yeah, finding a 96 SR5 4x stick from CA was good for me, worrying about the rest later.....knowing it didn't spend the first 9 years of it's life in the rust belt-and it was the cheapest one around here without beaucoup miles....priceless.

Love the rally avatar, 914!

It took me a bit of time to find my large fender flare'd, 2000 5-speed V6 e-locker 4Runner, but they're out there.

Black 2000 5-speed V6 in Colorado

White 2000 5-speed supercharged in Utah

Blue 1999 5-speed e-locker in Colorado

Millenium silver 2000 5-speed e-locker in California

Black 2000 5-speed in Missouri

Green 2000 5-speed in Colorado

Black 1999 5-speed elocker in Wisconsin

Sunfire red 2000 5-speed in Colorado

Green 1999 5-speed in California

Millenium silver 2000 5-speed in Utah

You get the idea...they're out there.

When i was shopping around I only found one near me. It was a '99 3.4L 5speed with e-locker....black too. The kicker was that carfax brought up frame damage.

Not having seen one with an e-locker, is there a switch in the cab or it is computer controlled with no switches?

Ya, that was the other thing, my rig has been in Oregon and Cali all its life. It has NO rust. Should last me to atleast 350,000 miles

Thanks, I forget where I found it though. Darn, LOL
