sorry off the thread here, but the "lid" part is facing to the front of the rig ?? or does it matter ? the reason im asking, i just changed my fuel filter, and having thoughts i put it in backwards,, i know i know,, go ahead and say it,

Now the questino is what filter to get...
most places on the web have 2 versions:
part #E1000-51928 by Nippon @ $32
part #E1000-82232 by Bosch @ $18
Besides the brand the only difference appear to be the bracket, where Bosch doesn't come with one. Is the bracket from the old one reusable?

Check dealer prices too if you haven't, might be more might be less... I'd go with the ND filter regardless of the bracket, it's likely the same as the original equipment filter.

The dealer had a part #23300-62030 @ $32 by Denso which is OEM replacement from what I understood. They also don’t ever carry it in stock, special order item. Go figure

Found one locally. Took only 15-20 min for the whole thing, start to finish. Surprisingly the very rusted looking bolts and fittings came loose with ease. Too easy in fact, I started to get the feeling I was about to change a fresh filter
Put it all together, no leaking. It even started on the first try!
The idle seemed a little higher than usual, and it started a bit faster on the successive starts.
After popping the old filter open it looked like this:
82K miles on it?

And the after look
The weirdest part was that I didn't even depressurize the fuel lines as the lovely blinking search button doesn’t work and the manual was of no help either. So I just put a bucket under there big enough to milk a cow. No more than 4oz of gas came out! It leaked, slowly. That was about 5 minutes after driving the car.
Is that strange?

That does seem wierd to me... the slow gas coming out.. hmmm... but not sure on that I'm not an expert.. I do know that when i changed the filter on my truck i didn't really do anything but get a bucket and pop old one off and put new one on.. But about a gallon of gas poured out into the bucket.. it was a constant strong flow

I did my 96 FF less than a month ago, same thing. Just a bit of fuel came out. Your fine.
I should have cut mine open like you did, but I figured a torch wouldn't be the best idea for me.
