How much will OME 890's settle??

So???? Just put my lift on this afternoon with coilovers up front. Trying to figure where I need to set them so I can go ahead with the alignment. Also, how long should be "safe" to go without getting it aligned??

I went about a week and a half before i got mine aligned. I wanted both the front and rear to settle so i can get a proper tune on it.

I would guess that my 890s settled ~ 1/4"-1/2". If you set your COs to the rake you want and have it aligned, then the rear settles your caster will be different. If you lower the front down to regain the rake you want your camber will probably change. If you set your COs so the rear is a little high then when/if it settles the caster will change. If the rear doesn't settle and you want to crank up your COs to set your truck rake then your caster and camber will be off. (Caster: When you turn the steering wheel, the front wheels respond by turning on a pivot attached to the suspension system. Caster is the angle of this steering pivot, measured in degrees.) This is what makes it easy or hard to steer and what makes it stable or wander down the road.

The best thing to do is get a lifetime alignment at Firestone. The usual price is around $150 but it does go on sale for $125 and down to $99. Set your rake, have it aligned and if it settles get it realigned. (they say that you can get an alignment every 6 months, most of the time they don't check/care if you go back sooner)

Here is alignment explained.

Thanks for the info and link Gerdo but I believe that the back suspension height has nothing to do with the front alignment on 4Runners and other vehicles with solid rear axles. Isn't that why our vehicles only need a 2 wheel alignment? There arn't any adjustments for the rear. I very well cound be wrong though.

Yes and No. Yes, you don't align the rears on our 4runners but when you change the height of the rear the camber of the fronts change.
