I can't exactly tell you how much it weighs, but I am gonna give a good guess of 25lbs. I handled both a stock hood and an aftermarket hood, so I am pretty sure it's between 20-30lbs .

That's very possible. I mean, I am more used to the aftermarket hood, because the body shop removed the heavier OEM one. I guess what I am trying to say is my estimate is for an aftermarket hood w/ scoop.

I would say 30-40 lbs and I guarantee you are going to get an oversized package charge for it.

Actually, its 55 lbs with a few packing peanuts, in the stock toyota box. It is oversized, and so much oversized that it cannot go UPS/FedEx. It has to be shipped frieght. I know, because I tried to sell my old factory non-scoopy hood to some guy in WI. I boxed it up, and my UPS guy said it was too large. So, frieght, 55 lbs. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

It's not a weight issue, it's the size of the box.

You could try shipping it in pieces, but then you'd pay more in freight to ship the welder and grinder required for reassembly.

I'm curious if the aftermarket hoods have been crash tested? If there's one thing I wouldn't want to say hello to, it's the trailing edge of the hood coming through the windshield after the hooks failed, if they even have them.

I use to own an Acura and I opted not to go with the carbon fiber hood after hearing of them not crumpling like a regular hood and coming through the windshield

The problem is that the box doesn't fit on a regular UPS truck. I got the OEM toyota hood, so I'm sure it will be fine.

It weighs half that of a stock hood at least.

I heard the same thing. I had a Carbon hood on my Honda and bounced a small doe off the hood and it never even left a mark. I had a couple of cracks in the bumper but no damage to the hood. That stuff is pretty rigid.
