Leave their ECT button on all of the time. I have been driving with mine on and I have to say when its on, it's what a transmission is supposed to feel like! When its off, it just seems mushy and not responsive to throttle at all. It really feels like crap after it's off.

Have any of you noticed any signifigant decreases in fuel mileage with yours on (if you leave it on all of the time)? I am thinking of just leaving it on and seeing what kind of fuel difference I get.

Why didn't Toyota design the Tranny to act like this normally instead of making a button activate it????

Always on here. I typically get a smidge over 19mpg with daily city and 22mpg + change interstate. So no, I don't see any disadvantages with running ECT continuously.

sometimes on sometimes I find it a little punchy in traffic and it goes off.

I didn't think it would help out too much with the power, I know it lets you rev higher, but does it help out off the line?

Yeah it does. Can't say how much but changing the shift patterns does have an effect I can feel it. There does seems to be a range after you hit the gas where the effect is almost the same but top and bottom there is a dif.

It's basically the NOS switch for my 3.slow without the actual NOS. Ok I was watching 2F2F 2day and NOS is on my mind aswell as the hot chick that looks like the Chaquita bananna chick. As for ECT I use it when on the freeway doing 80 or in the hills for power assist. I picture it sucking down gas if I use it 24/7.

I keep mine on full time. As long as your not getting on it too much, the mileage is almost negligible (at least for me) and I can wind it up higher when I need to w/o having to push a button first.. Most of my driving is country backroads, so those that do more city driving probably see a bigger difference in fuel mileage.

I keep precise fuel mileage records and notice very little difference between the ECT's normal and power modes; perhaps 0.5 mpg.

I keep it on all the time w/ my 95. With 33s and still geared at 4.88 it helps get goin from a stop light. Now the 99, I like to turn it on when I'm driving. But the wife equates it to aggresiveness (i guess cause i've floored it a few too many times) .

I keep mine on all the time. I like the way the truck behaves much better with it on. I don't get worse MPG b/c of having it on. My "bad" gas mileage is directly contributed to my driving habits. I live in a college town and I am always having to use the gas more than I would like to in order to drive defensively. (Read - defensive, not aggressive, dangerous, etc.) The ECT button helps in these situations.

it doesn't seem to do anything on the low end for me. the high end above 3200 get a small kick in the a. I wouldn't call it signicicant. Since I've found it having neglable performace increases I only use it when I'm towing something.

I only use it when towing or hauling a bunch of people around with the a/c on.

I just push OD button if i need some boost on highway, and shift down to 2nd on city driving if i need to...ofcourse within the safe RPM range.
